Hope the tree templates are going ok rogeroger. They look very good so far. Here is my Hurricane multi-skin re-colour mod. Although in reality the camo colours will look different to some extent depending on the lighting I will probably make a further version of the spitfire and hurricane making them a closer match and make any small fixes.

Cool bananas! :D

Looking forward to using these.

Tree placements are proceeding nicely though they may be a bit heavy on the framerates. My system is a 2nd generation core i5, 8 gigs of ram and a gtx760 2gig graphics card, not exactly a powerhouse. In spite of framerates dropping to mid twenties in the Tangmere area(lots of tree placements) the sim is still playable with no stuttering in ground attack quick missions .
I'm experimenting with reduced texture sizes to see what impact this has on framerates and quality.

edit: There is some stuttering at the start of missions due to the extra objects being loaded. I pause the sim for a few seconds till this is done.

I found quite a few small errors in the hurrie re-colour when testing but this second version should fix everything. http://www.mediafire.com/file/qlmk72qct ... 2.zip/file

I have been given to understand that the white tail band (also apparently initially
sky blue) first made its appearance in Dec. 1940, yes?

Interesting question PV. Not something I had thought about but the manual seems to be a good source of info and talks about the sky spinner and tail band being applied from 27th November and sky being interpreted as duck egg blue or bluish green. So that might raise a question about whether it should be included in the first place. Also there seems to be very little blue in the tail band which I didn't add any saturation to and and most likely is relatively too pale. Before I’d bothered to check the manual though I made two versions, one with no tail band and one with a generic light blue one.

I’m currently planning on making the duck egg colours more conventionally blue looking, possibly including for any aircraft undersides if they share that colour, but would be very interested to hear any further views.

Getting my eggs a bit muddled here but here finally is a the fix to make the 257 squadron tail band and spinner more clearly a duck egg blue colour. With thanks to PV for pointing the out the need for this. Any further views welcome.

You must realize that over the last ...getting on two decades now, I have
been exposed to seemingly endless discussions on the beta forum about the
details of the paint schemes. I have absorbed a lot of that without any particular
interest on my part, but it sure was important to several of the painters who
contributed to the sim over the years. To indicate the superficiality of my
knowledge, I only know the stuff that pertains to what was or wasn't applicable
to the period covered by the sim campaign. I have no clue about what might have
been appropriate for any subsequent period, though I'm sure many of the folks
engaged in those discussions knew the details of many aircraft across the
whole war.

This is the first installment of tree objects for "Martins England Ground Textures for bob2" terrain. I've included full and lite versions as well as recoloured tree textures. Lite version contains half of the tree objects.

RR UPDATE 3(page 61 of this thread) is a requirement to use the Manston tree files as this update contains changes to the terrain and coastline of the area.

Placements at Biggin Hill, Hawkinge, Hornchurch, Kenley, Manston, Tangmere, Weymouth/Portland and Dover(wip).

note on framerates:

I find that framerate fluctuations in bob2 produces different results when compared with similar fluctuations in il2 clod/blitz.

In il2 clod/blitz, a fps dip to 17fps causes serious stuttering, whereas the same dip in fps in bob2 results in no stuttering on my system.

I would suggest trying "trees full" and flying a quick low level ground attack mission in manston or tangmere areas as RAF.

If things feel ok visually then stick with "trees full". I find that making a decision based on low fps figures alone IN BOB2 can be deceiving. Bear in mind that there probably will be stuttering on mission start due to the extra objects being loaded. Pausing for a few seconds at mission start until loading is complete ensures that you dont lose gametime.

Is there a way to remove the hedgerows in 2.13?

This is an object update for RRupdate3(page 61 of this thread) consisting of the residential and shop objects I have placed since December 2017.Areas covered are Weymouth/portland, Southampton, portsmouth amongst others you will find by browsing the mod folder. Some of these are a wip.

Southampton housing and shops. The port buildings and ships are probably targets placed by Stickman.

Yes, I figured it was a very good catch PV. I’m generally only going by the better quality imagery available now. There seems to be quite a lot of variation and most often some room for interpretation anyway. Looking forward to trying the excellent looking ground placements rogeroger.

I think it should still be possible to remove the hedgerows in 2.13 by making a blank file and giving it the same name rogeroger. This is a screencap using your scenery mods with no shaders added and a slightly modified version of the Martins terrain.

Nice screencap! :)

Would look nice with Reshade.

The hedgerows aren't an objectadds creation. I think they are coded and were activated for 2.13. I quite enjoyed them with the stock terrain, however they don't seem work that well with Martin's terrain(Dover specifically).

Quite like your greener version of the Martin terrain Boreas. Just completed my first Youtube vid of my favorite instant action mission- low level ground attack on Manston.

EDIT: I used the free Fraps recorder to record the previous footage resulting in a stringing together of three 30 second clips using Any video converter.

I just downloaded MSI afterburner which has no 30 second recording limit like the free Fraps recorder. This is a better uninterrupted ground attack on Tangmere.

You people are keeping me very busy. I have to regularly check in and am rarely disappointed. Thank you both for your continued and cooperative efforts at further improving this mighty game.

Much wants more, but perhaps a similar exhaust effect for the Spit?
