How do I force v-sync in my ATI control panel? For the life of me I can't work out how to do it.

Also, what exactly does it do

Philip, have a look at tweakguides.com and the section on ATI cards that may help you.In the ATI CCC it comes under the section of 'all settings' as Vertical Refresh. It also gives you info and help on the ATI Tray tool utility. This has been covered before ,but I had problems with using it and have returned to the CCC.It would appear my problem was quite common :? I hope this may help. :)

This is how to do it in FSX. I've done it for my ATI 4890 1gB. Works well.

Force VSync

No idea how this info converts for BoB but the idea is that the application (Sim) controls VSync and that the Control Panel says Application Controlled.

AFAIR BoB2 had no issues obeying standard Vsync setting in nVidia Control Panel so it shouldn be the same for ATI.

As for Why Vsync is needed? What are advantages and disadvantages of Vsync? take a look here

Please read those two topics through and through and you'll know everything you need.

Please note that there is an information that "there is no disadvantages of Vsync". Unfortunately it is not valid for BoB2, IIRC - only for the DCS Black Shark. In other words all the Vsync limitations will occur when Vsync is enabled in BoB2.
