I hope to God it addresses some of the issues with Formation Flying, mainly the abrupt course changes and speed changes. That's my biggest concern at the moment. If I'm not 100% focused I either crash into a squad mate (or they'll crash into me), or I have to hear my squad leader bitching that I'm chewing his tail off with my prop  Seriously though, I love this sim, and totally appreciate the work the BDG has done to make it great! Thanks!

It is on the list and I have worked on it but todate I just can not figure out how to fix/improve it. Turning a formation/squad of A/C is a bit complex with respect to the inside and outside A/C (speed, heading, pitch, and roll).

We of course are always interested in any C++ programmers who have the tools, skill, and and knowledge to fix some our issues.

I've kind of gotten used to the squad behavior, especially flying mission after mission in campaign mode. Still, it needs attention for sure. Another thing that interested me, is the fact that when you use the radio to ask the position of your flight leader, he responds with a bearing and distance, but not altitude. Would be nice if there was a way to allow for something like this: Where are you? Red 2, bearing 270, 5 miles, angels 15. This would be extremly helpful in regrouping after combat, when everyone is all over the sky.

Kidding aside, I flew multiple player online in a squadron for over a decade in several sims. As in RL, one must keep an eye on the element leader or your pilot to port (or starboard depending on the formation) and react to him. Tough enough and no fun especially when one wants to keep your head on a swivel. I do not know jack about coding, but usually the element all do not respond at the exact second, there is a teeny delay per aircraft. Perhaps codeable perhaps not? I love to lead regardless, the AI responds well enough.

"The British didn't get everything right. Some of their tactics were from the old school and soon needed to be updated. Squadrons would often fly into battle in tight formation, rendering them sitting ducks for the enemy, particularly the 'tail-end Charlies' who were at the back and outside of such formations. British pilots had to spend as much time trying to avoid hitting each other as they did in scanning the skies for the Germans. Fortunately, feedback from pilots soon meant that these old-fashioned and deadly formations were abandoned. One successful tactic that emerged, based on what the R.A.F. had seen the more battle-experienced German pilots doing, was for groups of fighters to fly in pairs in close formation."
