I [Take-Off ] at full Throttle: with the comment [ "very untidy " ] ...
Question_1:
Is this comment because I climb too fast?

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

RAF; 54 Spitfire; Skill [Regular]
<Config > screen:
<Flight Options > [Custom ]
<Flight Model > [Realistic]
<Engine Management > [Auto ]
<Prop Pitch Control > [Auto ]
<Airframe Stress > [ON ]

I set the <Config> screen as above
after [Take-Off] I bank to turn 180 degrees; the Spitfire engine RPM oscillates with a period of 5 sec: between high 3,000 and then low 1,800 RPM , with accompanying sound.

The oscillation persists a long time, until I find a suitable Thottle setting.
Else, this oscillation repeats over large range of Throttle positions.

QUESTION_2
How can I prevent these oscillations ?
What am I doing incorrectly ?

Thanks in advance for your advice

Hi falconhawk,

I'm afraid it's a problem with having the prop pitch and the throttle set to auto. You will need to set them both to manual.

Thanks, I have set <Prop Pitch Control > [Manual ] .
The engine now runs smoothly in all Throttle settings.

Normally if you are slow he says something like " if this was a real scramble you would be mincemeat by now" .The untidy one,not sure.are you weaving all over the airfield or wobbly on take off?

The code checks your wheels up heading to compare with the runway heading. It also checks wing dips.

For me it's usually wing dips, caused by not coordinating throttle boost well with
compensation for torque. Drifting direction can be a knock on from this as well.
Get a check of wind from the tower first, and take off into it as much as possible,
particularly if the wind speed is significant.

A good take-off is like a good landing: I mean a successful one. If it's untidy or not it doesn't matter, only for your own ego or the CO
If one sees a video of a Spitfire take-off on a grass strip he can see how bouncing it is.

Mine's usually 'Quick enough but very untidy'. Even after the years I've been flying BoB, I've never really got the hang of compensating for the torque on take off and tend to wander across the runway. I have NO_FRIENDLY_COLLISIONS turned ON in bgd.txt so that I don't smash into my colleagues in missions where the squadron takes off together - I really should practise more but I go with attilla in that I'm happy to get off the ground without putting a wing or my prop into the runway, even if it isn't pretty.
