Did you try using the mouse wheel for these knobs?

Hi bestrunners,

Welcome to the A2A community.

Is it just the HDG bug and VOR, or do the other VC controls behave the same?

Early on the C-172 had a disappearing clickspot, issue which is now resolved. If it is the clickspot issue, run the updater and select no to the landing light question. I don't remember the exact wording.

Well Mr. Jim,
I uninstalled and installed software
With the updates and same problem.
Also the autopilot is a bit complicated
It's not holding the altitude set,
I can live with that, most of my
Flying is IFR, so that's why the VORs
And heading bug is important to me.
Overall the airplane is the best I have flown
And I want to purchase some other
Aircrafts from A2A but don't want same
Problem.
Really need this to work.

When you say nothing happens, what exactly is not happening? When you scroll the nose wheel over the OBS knob does the dial not rotate around the VOR head?

When you scroll the mouse wheel over the heading bug knob does the orange bug not rotate around the compass card?

Or

Is the autopilot not following your selected course or bearing to a VOR?

If it is the latter I would begin by checking that the AP is actually engaged by making sure that you see it go into roll mode when you hold down the AP button. After that hit need to press HDG to follow a bugged heading or NAV to follow the course on the VOR head. You also need to make sure that the proper NAV source is selected for the AP.

Let's start with following a heading by turning on the AP and then selecting HDG. If you get somewhere with that, then we can add in the more complex operations. A2A had very faithfully replicated the KAP140 autopilot for FSX.

At this point I am not sure how to proceed. Maybe someone else can chime in with suggestions because I did not think this functionality could be disabled in FSX.

Do you use FSUIPC? There is a setting there that will allow you to remap the mouse wheel to do something else, eg move the trim. If you have enabled this, the mouse wheel will no longer work on knobs and dials. Maybe there are some other add-ons out there that can also remap the wheel. Just a thought...

Yes it sounds like you have remapped the mouse wheel away from the default control so its no longer able to be used for changing values.

For the Autopilot please refer to the manual, its a full real autopilot that is not an on rails default style. It will require some learning to use it correctly.

thanks,

Ok, if I remapped the mouse wheel,
is there any way to fix that problem.
Also I want to mention I use a custom
built laptop for gaming.
So do you think the laptop is a factor
In this problem ?

Probably best course of action would be to rename fsx.cfg, then restart FSX and see if the mouse works. The key is the mouse doesn't wrk with the default Cessna. If it isn't working for the default it's in your FSX setup, nothing to do with the A2A Cessna,
