C172 Autopilot all zeros

Post by KPWoodsong »

Often my autopilot often displays
00000
FT
before I turn it on.

After I turn it on the display looks like
000 AP [] [] 00000
FT

If I put it in HDG mode it follows the heading but the display does not change. The knobs that should set the altitude won't.

Any insights or suggestions?

Thanks

Hi,

Let us know what sim you are using. Check if you have "Advanced Animations" turned on from your "Settings".
Don't forget to install the latest Accu-Sim updater found here.

Hi KP,

Yes, if you can let us know which sim platform you've got the 172 installed in, it'll help us provide better advice.

Thanks,
Nick

I thin I may have figured this out. I have the a2a comanche as the default aircraft in FSX. I have now changed the default aircraft to the default C172. The autopilot is working now. If the problem reoccurs I'll reply to this topic.

Thanks

Another instance showing how important it is to properly initialize the simulation. Sometimes the effects can be more subtle and affect the flight model, or make starting difficult or impossible, etc.

Do not use a saved flight for your default flight. Ideally stick to the default flight that came with the simulator.

Hello,

yes the default flight should always be a default aircraft. Using a complex simulation for the default flight can result in issues.

thanks,

If you use fsx, then check if you have high quality virtual cockpit enabled
