Peak EGT

Post by awash2002 »

I've decided that I will at odd altitudes run the aircraft at or near peak EGT for maximum range

Why just odd altitudes?

Mainly because at even altitudes I go by the performance charts but there is not a performance table for odd altitudes say 3,000 5000 7000 9000 11000 so by me leaning till the engine starts running rough and then enrichen the mixture till it smooths out then I get my best fuel flow and max range out of the aircraft

The cool thing with leaning by reference to egt needle ist that one doesn't need any tables. One gets the proper mixture by solely referring to the needle. For fuel consumption etc, one can just pick some values from between the altitudes that are a bit higher and lower.
