Hi all,
I play FSX from the sofa in front on the big TV, I have a small family and my 2nd daughter who is 6 months old took my man cave away from me
Anyway I have the game set at 1920 x 1080 and I play from about 3-4ft from the television. I find the pop up panels shift 2,3,4 etc are a little hard to see. The obvious solution is to drop the resolution but this makes the game look poor. I've just seen in another thread from an old timer called tony that he has edited panel.cfg because he has similar issues. For an old timer he knows more than me it appears! He has a better system as well damn it.
So my question is can anyone give me guidance to edit this file to increase the panel size particular for the A2A skylane?
Cheers
Sid

Re: 1920 x 1080 resolution - shift panels too small
Hello Sid,
I believe what you need to do is change the "pixel_size=" field for these panels in the 'panel.cfg' file which is located here: ...SimObjects\Airplanes\A2A_C182\panel (the first bit of the path will depend on whether it's an FSX or P3D installation etc.)
So to make the shift+3 'controls' panel twice as big for example, you'd edit this section as follows:
[Window02]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=321,311
pixel_size=642,622 // 321,311 original value
window_pos= 0.51, 0.2
As always with such edits, please back up the original first! And bear in mind the panels won't tessellate on screen as originally designed if you try this. In other words, they'll overlap if you got multiple panels open.
Cheers,
Nick

Thanks for the help, this worked perfectly! I increased the pop ups by 30% and my eyeballs are no longer falling off.

Glad it helped Sid. I hate to think of you having to get up off the sofa to peer at those 2-D pop-ups!

Thank you so much for the link to adjusting the panel.cfg files.
Is there a simliar way to increase the size of the hint boxes that appear when hovering the cursor over an instrument?

I have adjusted all 2d panels to fit my computer screen , except the check engine 2d panel which is opened from within the maintenance hanger. and dont know which gauge window number it is, that I need to adjust the pixel_size.
can anyone please tell me the window number of the gauge that I need to resize the pixel_size, in the panel.cfg
any help would be greatly welcomed

Re: 1920 x 1080 resolution - shift panels too small
Hi Steve,
The engine details in the panel.cfg use [Window12]. The instrument details use [Window15] when default GPS units are used, or [Window13] when third-party GPS products are integrated.
Note that if you're making the panels bigger, you can use the "4K" option in the Aircraft Configurator for the Bonanza to do this automatically. However, you say they're too big so you want to make them smaller? Any idea what resolution your monitor is running at?
Thanks,
Nick

Re: 1920 x 1080 resolution - shift panels too small
Hi Steve,
Yeah, wondered if it was something like that as it's pretty unusual for people to complain that the panels are too big. Glad to hear you're sorted anyway.
Cheers,
Nick
