2D panels are tiny on resuming a saved flight - P3D4.1

Post by doc289456 »

I have a problem that for a number of add-on planes (A2A comanche & connie, Manfred Jahns c-47 & the FS2crew panel for q400) if I save a flight with a 2D panel open and then exit P3D and then reload the save any 2D panels that were open end up tiny. So tiny that they can barely be seen.
Here are 2 images, the first before exiting and the 2nd after exiting and then re-loading a save.
Any ideas on how to fix?

Hello,

make sure the panels are closed before saving and also remember to never save as default a flight with a complex sim. Only use default aircraft for the default flight.

thanks,

Thanks,
I'm not usually saving as a default, actually same behavior whether its default or not.
Yes I do try to remember to close panels before saving and exiting, but often forget.
So is that the only fix?
Does this happen to everyone with an A2A add-on and p3d4.1?

I noticed this happening, too. I never use A2A aircraft as default and save with 2D panels closed. Not a big deal, but could be better.

Hi.
I read a similar post on SOH about 2d panels on the manfred jahn c47 , so it might just be an issue within P3DV4.

That might have been my post at the SOH forums.
I also posted on P3D forums.
From what they said at P3D forums was to load the default p3d flight first then load your save.
This works with some success but it means having to go through the whole loading process twice.
So far the best fix is to try to remember to close 2D panels before saving

I've had a similar thing happen, but only with the Shift+5 panel, and only when I load with the T-6 into P3Dv4.1. I typically don't save or quit with 2D panels open, but I can's say I've never left the Shift+3 panel open a time or two. The same thing happens either way, only with the T-6. Whenever I start P3Dv4.1 with my T-6 as the aircraft, I get a tiny Shift+5 2D map window in the upper left corner of the screen.

Here is the fix: I hit the Alt key, bringing up the menu. I then select the change aircraft option and select my same T-6 over again. The scenario comes up again, and Shift+5 works perfectly. I've given up wondering why it does that, now that I can fix it so quickly.

Hope that works for you.

I did have it set to a save of a majestic Q400 but now I've set it back to the p3d default which I think is the F35. I cannot remember the location.

and Yes Paughco I can reload the aircraft to fix, although after doing this occasionally some panels wont open at all with the shift + ? shortcuts

Its advised to always load a default aircraft first for complex simulations, I think you may have been loading incorrectly or at least against 'good practice' and are now discovering some of the issues. Unfortunately there is no rule as to how and what will happen, some users can load first time fine for years, others will always have to load a default aircraft first due to the first load issues.

thanks,
