Confusing install

Post by Spiff80 »

Hello.
When i choose the root for P3D directory at the install, it creates a A2A folder inside P3D.
P3D doesnt detect the plane when i start the sim, mostly because it doesnt are in the Sim Object folder. Right or wrong?
I can see inside the A2A folder it has created, the following folders are:

A2A
Effects
Fonts
Gauges
Scripts
SimObjects
add-on.xml

The plane folder is under SimObjects and if i clip this out and paste it to the P3D SimObjects folder, the plane will show in the sim. But then, no sound at all. No engine sound or sounds inside the cockpit.

This is also happening to the Piper 180.

Can anyone help me please and figure at whats wrong? :)

Its for A2A 250 Comanche and for the A2A Piper 180.
Im using Win10,64 bit.
Im having a SSD disk that i have my games on incl P3D.

When i run Install, i choose just the root folder of P3D at the E drive where i have installed my games.
When i have done that, it has created a A2A folder inside P3D.
Inside that folder again, it has created div folders.

A2A
Effects
Fonts
Gauges
Scripts
SimObjects
add-on.xml

The plane folder is under SimObjects

Hello Spiff,

Please can you tell us exactly which version of Prepar3D you have installed. (e.g. v4.2 etc.)

Thanks,
Nick

Okay - thanks for the info.

P3D v4.2 introduced an issue with installation into custom directories. The temporary solution involves manually editing the "add-ons.cfg" file and is described here: Fix for missing A2A aircraft in Prepar3D v4.2.

Also, for P3Dv4, it's recommended that you don't try to install add-ons inside the P3D directory itself. Instead, if you prefer not to use the default directory in "Documents", you could create a new directory on your E: drive called "Prepar3Dv4 add-ons" or similar, and install into this.

Thanks,
Nick

Hello.
Okey, i removed the backslash from the add-ons cfg file.
Then i created a folder in E: drive, but the plane wont show in P3D when its not placed at the P3D folder.
Or do u mean create a folder inside the P3D folder that we can call Prepar3Dv4 add-ons?

Hello Spiff80,

it might be best to uninstall, restart your system and then reinstall and follow the in screen instructions during each step of the installation. It sounds like you may have just click next next next finish and didn't read any of the instructions or the information about the new P3Dv4 add-on directories. Now worries, Common issue and we all do it, but in this case it really is important to follow the instructions. (Default P3Dv4 directory is in your my docs that the installer will default too).

thanks,
Lewis
