Female Pilot option for front seat?

Post by Tailspin45 »

We could make the case that the woman in the back seat with the pony tail is an instructor or checkpilot, but I'd sure like to put her in the front seat.

Is there a hack that would let me do that, or could it be added easily in the next release?

Just go to the weight and fuel etc Shift-4 and put her in the front seat.

Sounds like you should read the manual sir!!!!!!!

Hmmm, guess I should. I've been using my real SNJ checklist and kneepad plus an old Navy SNJ NATOPS if I had a question. First time they've failed me--a tribute to the authenticity of A2A's aircraft.

Thanks!

Yes but females in service aircraft were pretty rare especially in the front seat.

I do not remember them being mentioned in any of my manuals!!!!

There are a lot of WASPS that would take issue with you. But relatively speaking, you're certainly right.

We should never forget the wonderful and valuable work conducted by the ATA and WASPs during WW2 and then the majority of T-6 racers in the immediate postwar years were Women. Not sure if this lady is in the right place though? :)

I apologise, I apologise most profusely, far be it from me to get the wrong side of the WAAFS WASPS or ATA.

Some of them have got very heavy handbags and long fingernails.Mind you I never came accross the lady in your shot Martin(more's the pity)

Cheers a contrite Chris

Here's a recent short video featuring one of those W.A.S.P. pilots...

Bernice "Bee" Haydu was a World War II Engineering Test pilot in the Women Airforce Service Pilots. Her friends said she flew like a bumblebee. Over 70 years later, Bee Haydu is still going strong.
And here's another nice article about former W.A.S.P. pilot Tex Meachem and the T-6, "her favorite type of plane". :)
Meachem was outnumbered, to say the least, as women pilots were a rare breed at that time. But she and the other women kept a sense of humor about the imbalance.

She remembers a time when they were standing in line waiting to get shots CAP required for medical reasons. “They were teaching orderlies how to give the shots on potatoes,” recalled Meachem. “So when the men insisted we ladies go first, we went to the front of the line and pretended the shots hurt so badly. One man even passed out from the fear.”
Cheers,

Any way to put Heidi in my lap while I'm flying from the front seat? So far I've tried everything I can think of.

Well, I've read the manual and find nothing that suggests Heidi can fly from the front, only that in the Shift-4 popup she can can be selected for the back seat (or not) and her weight adjusted.

Did I miss something elsewhere, Speedy70?

Empty the back seat and then select the front and you can select male or female for both the front and rear seats.

thanks,

Er, when I do that, only a guy appears as a choice for the front.

UPDATE: Disregard. Discovered that if I click on the guy I'm given a choice of him or Heidi!

Thank you Speedy70 and Lewis

I'm glad you got it sorted, but now which restroom do you use when you're back at the FBO? I'm totally not judging you because, gosh knows, I've personally thought about being Heidi a few times myself. Free advice? Avoid North Carolina altogether on your flights until this all blows over.

This T-6 is one flying in today's world, not pretending to be back in time, so there is no right or wrong type of person or dress really for this airplane.
