Hello,
installed the KLN90B into my FSX:SE and used the T-6 aircraft configurator to add the unit to the panel.
Unit works but I'm a bit puzzled with the OBS-NAV/GPS switch.
How is it supposed to work?
Having NAV1 radio tuned to an active VOR and the switch in NAV-position, the VOR indicator works as expected. Course deviation bar is moving.
Now I have an active flight plan in KLN90B and switch to OBS-GPS, the deviation bar moves to the center position, and the gauge seems to be off.
Changed the mode in KLN90B, but nothing happens.
I thougt, the gauge would show course deviation.
Thanks for your help.
Regards
Jens

Re: OBS - GPS/NAV switch with KLN90B
Hello Jens,
I can't get this to work either (FSX-SE too). I did wonder if the solution was to edit the "KLN90B.CNF" file as follows, but even with the "OBSOUT=1" entry, the KLN 90B still doesn't drive the CDI on the VOR gauge. (I know setting the OBS is different to deflecting the CDI, but though it worth a try.)
I also tried what I described in this post, but to no avail. I have a suspicion the default FSX GPS might still be driving the CDI with the switch in GPS position, but haven't been able to check.
Cheers,
Nick
P.S. In the linked topic, Michael K ('some1' from A2A) said "with 3rd party GPS you may still need to switch CDI mode to GPS manually for the VOR gauge to show GPS deviation." However, I think this just means combined Garmin GPS-and-radio units (i.e. GNS + GTN) which have the capability to switch the CDI source from NAV to GPS.

Code: Select all
[INTERFACE]
KOHLSMAN=1 ; Do we read the Altimeter settings?
APHDG=1 ; Do we drive the AP heading in HDG mode with NAV/GPS on GPS?
OBSIN=1 ; Do we read the NAV1 OBS setting?
OBSOUT=1 ; Can we set the NAV1 OBS setting?
AIRDATA=1 ; Can we read air data from the interface?
FUEL=1 ; Can we read fuel data from the interface?
[KLN90B]
FONT=0 ; 0=Lucida Console (default) 1=Terminus (must be installed on box)
EXTINTDB=0 ; Use separate 'Isec.txt' and sidstars folder in place of MSFS INTs?
RUNWAYS=1 ; 0=load only hard surface runways, 1=all runways
ILSFREQ=1 ; 0=do not load ILS frequency data, 1=load ILS frequencies

Re: OBS - GPS/NAV switch with KLN90B
Thanks for trying, I found the "KLN90B.CNF" and the OBSOUT option too yesterday in the evening, but no luck.
So, I'll stick on the NAV 1 page digital deviation bar.

Re: OBS - GPS/NAV switch with KLN90B
I did a quick test over the weekend Jens. It does seem the OBI CDI is still linked to the default GPS, even with the KLN 90B installed. Wonder if this is something which could be fixed by the A2A chaps in a future update?
Thanks,
Nick

Re: OBS - GPS/NAV switch with KLN90B
Looks like the same issue as the RXP GNS430 and the Flight1 GTN650..
In the background, the (L:GpsOnSwitch, bool) variable is set to OFF which prevents the GPS unit from communicating with the VOR gauge.
If you do not want to muck around in computer code, try equipping the T6 with the default GNS400 and make sure it is turned ON.
Then change your selection to your addon GPS. With a bit of luck, the variable in the background is "sticky" and will continue in the ON setting.
