Right Main Gear Door

Post by A-26Invader »

I want to confirm whether this is just my Bo or it follows everyone else but is the right gear door supposed to have a 1/2 inch gap all the way around? Simply put the door is not flush with the wing as this would allow added drag and airflow into the wheel well.

I don't have the gap. There's a line marking the outer hinge on each wing, but not a gap, and certainly not all the way around. All four doors appear to be flush.

I seem to recall this can happen on some airplanes, and it's somewhat normal.

This is done intentionally when the gear is retracted, and it's quite common issue on the real world Bonanza.

Strange, why does that happen irl ? Lack of space there ? (it seems like it becouse it closes no problem with gear down) inability of the mechanism to fully retract the door ? It looks like it could snap open with any maneuvering 8)

It's suction. This happens on many airplanes to varying degrees sometimes based on the rigging. The Aerostar is the same way except they are opened a bit more with the gear up due to the way two doors overlap.

I noticed this earlier during a flight but the next flight it was flush. might be something to do with the airflow when retraction happens. or could just be a random chance like the motor doesn't fully close but the stop switch is pressed so it stops pulling closed? or maybe a wear and tear visualization for the gear? I was trying out different used states...

Hi.
Going by the video posted by michal-a2a , the right gear door is flush with gear down but sags with gear up , but the left gear is doing the opposite , to me this would indicate that the gear is either wrongly adjusted , or wear and tear causing annomolies in how the gear is extended/retracted with regards to the gear doors.
Also suction is applied to the gear doors when in flight , which may not show up the slight wear/tear or adjustment annomolies on retraction test , while on jacks.
regards alan. 8)

Incredible attention to detail. I'm staggered.

I really enjoy the slightly sagging doors. It makes the plane feel like she's as old as she is.

Great job, team.
Best,
