FSX and P3Dv4 version are using the same data files

Post by Tim-HH »

Hi,

I've just installed the P3Dv4 version and to my surprise it uses the log files from the FSX version. Meaning that the settings, airframe and engine hours are identical. The "...\Documents\A2A\P3D\Bonanza35" folder is empty and all changes are saved in the "...\Documents\A2A\FSX\Bonanza35" folder. Is that how it is supposed to work? I would prefer it if both versions were independent of each other.

Hi Tim,

Yep, this is actually the way it's always been for the Accu-Sim aircraft for Prepar3D. The general idea is to allow users to share 'their' aircraft between both sim platforms, and for those transitioning from FSX to P3Dv4, it makes the process of retaining those aircraft hours and its persistent state as simple as possible.

Thanks,
Nick

Hi Nick,

So this thread https://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewto ... 94&t=65409 for the P-51 describes the same I thing?

If I uninstall the FSX Version of the plane, can I than move the files to the P3D subfolder?! Or should I better leave it where it is?

Thanks
Jens

Thanks for the info, Nick! I guess I haven't spent enough time with the P3Dv4 versions yet.

When I first installed P3DV2.5 I created a second user account to keep my FSX and P3D dat files separate. Use once account for FSX and the other for P3D.
