RXP GPS Broken ?

Post by scottb613 »

Hi Folks,

I think the RXP units may be broken...

The RXP GNS 530 has no display - won’t power up - and the pop up opens but it’s a blank black window...

The RXP GTN 750 in combination with the Autopilot doesn’t follow the GPS track - the CDI is set to GPS - proper GPS destination selected - latest patches applied...

I have have the F1 GTN pack as well and once I switch to one of those units the autopilot works properly again...

Thanks...

Regards,
Scott

All the RealityXP units (GNS and GTN) are working fine with my installation of the Bonanza Scott.

Have you selected them via the Bonanza Aircraft Configurator and then reloaded the aircraft if the sim is already running?

For the GNS 530, have you checked the position of the power switch at top left?

Thanks,
Nick

Hi Nick,

Thanks for responding - hmm - strange - yep - selected via a2a configurator... I switched between F1 and RXP a coupe time - the GTN is definitely not driving the autopilot correctly - whether I have a simple DTO or a full Procedure - just turns the aircraft to the east and seems to ignore the magenta - in GPS nav mode... I’ll double check things on my end...

Regards,
Scott

Hi Scott,

Is the GTN driving the HSI CDI correctly? Also, do you have the GTN 750 in the NAV1 postion, with the default Bendix King KX 155 in the NAV2 postion?

Thanks,
Nick

Hi Nick,

I think it was driving the HSI - I’ll double check... Oh - I forgot you can set the GPS position in the RXP configuration tool - I’ll check that too... Thanks so much...

Scott

Okay, thanks Scott - let us know how you get on. If you're still encountering problems, a screenshot or two may help to illustrate what's going on.

Cheers,
Nick

Hi Nick,

Yeah - been using the single GTN option - can’t recall where you set the options for GPS 1 or 2 position - the CDI deflects - the aircraft always turns to the same heading no matter what waypoint I select or its position - it’s on a constant heading in the image and will remain so indefinitely... Spinning heading bug or CDI has no effect whole in NAV AP mode...... I’m currently in a climb to 4000 - has no effect if I’m level on an altitude or climbing...

Swap back to F1 GTN all works as advertised...

Thanks for the screenshot Scott. Not sure what the problem is with your setup, but I wonder if there's any chance of a conflict between the RXP and F1 units. (I have just the former installed.)

Anyway, I confirmed the GTN 750 / KFC 200 pairing is working as advertised with my installation, as pictured below. (Flying a 'direct to' curved segment, with the CDI centred much better than I could do manually). I take it you haven't changed any settings in the RealityXP.GTN.ini?

I have the RXP GTN 750 running in the Bonanza and it follows the track perfectly. I even set up the CDI to automatically dial into the correct waypoint for each heading. Only issue I have is the pop up is too big (resize requires mouse each time) and screen brightness is not in sync between panel and pop up.

But really, I just used the A2A config tool to select the RXP GTN 750, then I edited the ini file for the GPS to have the settings I wanted. I changed the voice to female and everything. I think I made one change using the internal menu (Ryan TCAD) but that's about it.

Find the RealityXP.GTN.ini file within the A2A folder in the sim. Then you can change a few things there. Also, I think making all the CDI/HSI preferences as "true" will let the CDI auto track. I made the following changes:

[GTN_750_1]

RXP GPS Broken ?

Post by scottb613 »

Hi...

Thanks for the additional feedback... So I guess it’s my issue - I’m only home on the weekends to mess with this - I’ll try a full removal and fresh install of my RXP products and go from there... Seems like the most likely culprit since when I switch to F1’s GTN everything works fine...

Appreciate the help !!!

Regards,
Scott

Hey, Scott. I vaguely recall reading something on Avsim from someone having the same issue with another plane. I wish I could recall specifics, but what I remember is that there was something leftover from the previous F1 gauge that was causing the problems. If I stumble across what I read I'll shoot a link. Sorry I can't remember anything more specific.

For what it's worth my RXP 750 also works flawlessly in the V35, but I've never owned the F1 gauges.

Scott
