I have noticed a significant decrease in FPS with the Bonanza when viewing from inside the VC. So much so that if you add much eye candy outside (scenery, weather, etc.) it becomes a slide show.
My test scenario to confirm my suspicions:
P3Dv4.4, on the ramp at Dresden Germany, summer, daytime, “cold fronts†weather.
Active Sky, ASCA, Rex Airports HD and Texture Direct, PTA, ORBX Vector, OLC and Germany.
I configured it without the F1 GTN/GNS to rule that out.
I normally limit my FPS to 30 but set it to unlimited for this test.
Looking at the Bo from the outside I get 40 - 60 FPS depending on the direction of view.
Inside the VC, looking forward I get around 21.
I switch to the Comanche and I get 40 - 60 outside and 40 inside.
Any ideas what is using the extra resources in the Bo?

Re: Bonanza Frame Rates
Hello thunderstreak,
There are a couple of thing you could try. Firstly, if you have the "enable mirror" option ticked in the Bonanza aircraft configurator, this can have quite a significant effect on FPS which is why it's disabled by default. Similarly, you could try unchecking some of the dynamic lights options in the configurator too.
When it comes to internal aircraft lighting, there a quite a few dynamic spotlight and floodlight which each exert their own effect on FPS too. If you're struggling in terms of performance, it may be worth checking too see which ones you have switched on.
Thanks,
Nick

Re: Bonanza Frame Rates
Thanks for the suggestions Nick.
I tried disabling both individually and discovered it was in fact the mirrors.
Disabling those gave me an extra 20+ FPS.
I knew they were a bit resource hungry but didn’t expect it to be that much.
Thanks again.
Cheers, Bernard

Re: Bonanza Frame Rates
You're welcome Bernard. For what it's worth, even with the mirrors disabled, you'll still see some reflection of the environment provided dynamic reflection are enabled in P3D. You just won't be able to use them to check the position of the nose gear as the aircraft model itself isn't reflected.
Thanks,
Nick
