Hello,

Recently, I've bought the game, since I am found of simulation games (Rise of flight, DCS Combat Simulator, SteelBeasts, Falcon4, etc...)

I've installed the game + v2.11 patch + multiskin
I am running on windows 7 x64, and the game is just...awesome. It's stable, it's smooth (with almost all graphics at max and the AUTOGEN ON). EVerything is just working perfectly fine.
But....there is a small detail bothering me. It's not a big deal, but I've searched the forums and the problem exists and no-ones ever seemed to find a solution.

My problem is that the small videos (located in the AVI folder) don't display in the game. I can hear the sound, but no image.

What I noticed though is :

* If I change the compatibility mode (in the shortcut properties) to XP SP3, the videos do show, but.....I have frequent CTD (occuring while I'm in flight). And also I noticed a loss in FPS
* If I change the compatibility mode to XP SP2, the videos show in the game, and no CTDs. But the performance is down again (5-6 fps less)

So to summarize :

* WINDOWS 7 x64 -- no problems -- videos not showing -- FPS OK
* compatibility mode WINDOWS XP SP3 -- CTDs -- videos showing -- FPS DOWN
* compatibility mode WINDOWS XP SP2 -- no CTDs -- videos showing -- FPS DOWN

What should I do? Is it possible to have the videos playing without the compatibility mode change that seems to lower down my fps?

PS : I've installed the Lineos Indeo Codecs, but the problem is still here.

Yes, the videos do not work with Windows 7. We have not found a solution.

Go without the videos and run windows 7. You grow very tired of the videos in a very short time anyway and you will turn them off.

Here is a link with some information but no solution I think:

BOBII will not run on windows 7 in XP mode.

thank you, that's what I thought

I'm running on windows 7 x64, and the game plays like a dream.

and I can confirm that by changing the compatibility mode, I get CTDs

I hope someone will find a solution about the videos problem.

The posted solution works fine. I'd converted the videos from Intel's Indeo 5 codec to mpeg2 so that any Windows OS should be able to play it. Just replace the original avi folder in the BoB2 installation directory with the one in the zip file. Overwrite any other files.

Whoops, I mean unless you're using an ATI or AMD brand card, in which case just do without them :|
