On the 2D campaign map the UK and France shows streets, rivers and fields.
Looks really great.
One of the things I love on BOBII is the "historical"-like presentation.
The British never had no roads, rivers and fields on their table on which they observed the attacking German waves.
I prefere the "historic"-like appearance.
Is there a way to reset the 2D graphics card campaign to the former optical (admittedly boring) view/Design?

Greetings from Germany
Templar

Sorry, I have no idea how to get the old yellow campaign map back.

Bader is out for two weeks and he may know how to do it.

Maybe someone else knows but I am not sure.

You are the only one requesting the old one so far.

Hi Buddy,
thanks for the quick reply.
Perhaps there is someone in the future, capable to design the map more authentic to the original map of the British Fighter Command.

Or do there somewhere one exist?

Greeting
Templer

Hi Templar, sorry for the delay.

Download this file:

http://www.a2asimulations.com/bob_dev/P ... gnMaps.zip

If you place the files in your Battle of Britain folder it should write the files into the right subfolders to restore the original map.

You will of course lose the existing files, which will be written over. You will also lose the new files upon loading the next patch, as the updated files are included in the patches. Best solution is to keep a copy of both file sets, outside your install, then you can load the ones you prefer as required.

Hi Barder,

I'd very much like the old-style maps too, but the link is broken. Is there anywhere else I can download them from?

Many thanks

Paul

In a pinch, you can always run an install of the CD (somewhere, not on your current machine, unless you uninstall first, as it may get confused) and lift the files from there. They are the folders with 16, 32, 64 in the name (don't have my machine here to check the full names).

Thanks PV - hadn't thought of that.

Are any of the maps in these folders the same map as that used ingame whilst flying (M key)?

I ask because I wonder if the ingame map has been updated with any new roads added by the development group, such that if I overwrote it with an old map it might have an impact on trying to use the ingame map for navigation. I'm only trying to change the campaign map back to look like something that was used by the Ops Rooms

Thanks & regards

Paul

The M key map is generated on the fly from the current terrain, so it always shows the present state of the terrain map, with all the latest mods.

It would be nice to offer this as mod. Paul, I guess you have now identified all necessary files? Can you create a package (archive) containing them?

Sure Osram - can do. Will zip the files up with instructions and post (on this thread?) once I get home.

Osram, unfortunately the file size is too large. Zipped, it's 6mb, whereas the forum limit is 2mb.

Know anywhere I can send it to be hosted?

Hi All,

Resurrecting this old thread!

I have just begun delving into the Campaign game and quickly had the same question. I would much prefer the old style map!

It looks like no one ever re-posted the necessary files. Is there anyone out there who can help?

Thanks!

- John
