Help!
I nnever bought my P-47 throuogh WOP but instead got it through something put out by Shockwave called "Aircraft Powerpack." I can not get rid of the tubes, even though I've downloaded the 1.2 patch. The download says it can't find WWII Fighters anywhere on my machine, even though I stare at them every time I start the sim, and quits immediately. Is there any way to overcome this problem for a truly outstanding sim aircraft??
Thanks
Mike S.

If its the WOPII P47 you will need the P47 FSX Patch. Also apply the spitfire patch to the spitfire, 109 to 109 and so on.

Also, the rocket tubes can be removed from the 2d panel popup.

Hello Lewis - your name came up on another forum, I think - I've tried downloading the patch for FS2K4, will the FSX patch work in FS2K4 as well?

I wish I could remember the name of the package of the aircraft - I only have the one box on the shelf here, it came with three big glossy fold-outs of the aircraft instrument panel for the P-47, 109, Spitfire, P-51, and A6M5. On the top of each sheet it says "Wings of Power II WWII Fighters Special Edition." Do I use the FS2K4 or FSX patch?
Thanks
Mike S.

Lewis - just tried downloading and installing the FSX patch - refused to take - not sure what to do at this point.

Not sure if I mentioned it but these aircraft came in a box marked Shockwave Aircraft Powerpack - some were downloadable to FS9, others to FSX. Not sure if this will help with interpretation of problem or not.

Just went into the aircraft config file - first bird is "Miss Mary Lou," file says it is the "Special WWII Fighters Edition of the "Wings of Power" P-47D created by Shockwave." May help for clarification purposes.

The version you have is from the "Wings of Power II" series. Aircraft Power Pack 2 was essentially a re-release of a package titled "World War II Fighters: Special Edition" but it also included one version of the P-40 and a game called Sky Defender.

You have to be careful of which 1.2 patch you have downloaded. There were 1.1 and 1.2 patches for the original Wings of Power Thunderbolt pack (it is not the same product that is on Aircraft Power Pack 2) and one of these two patches introduced the ability to remove the rocket tubes. I believe the Wings of Power II Thunderbolt was concurrently in development when the patch for the first product was released, and hence the rocket tubes icon was included on the Wings of Power II version's two dimensional panel. The Wings of Power II model made its debut on the "WWII Fighters: Special Edition CD-ROM"; essentially this is the version you have.

Later there was a patch specifically for "World War II Fighters: Special Edition" that carried the 1.2 designation. I have this on my harddrive as a zip file named WOP_WWIF_1.2 (but I may have renamed it from the original download name, not sure). I'm guessing that your Aircraft Power Pack 2 installs the WWII Fighters v1.2 models by default, seeing as how the two products were released a year or two apart from each other.

Anyhow, you want this view:

Image
Look in the bottom left corner for the icon that has a slightly different border and color. The picture on the icon is a circle with a stem on the center of an X. (the icon represents a rocket and fins as seen from the rear.)

Very recently a patch for the Wings of Power II Thunderbolt was released specifically to bring it up to FSX visual standards. You can apply this to your APP2 install if you desire.

Good morning
I looked through the entire website for patches for the P-47 to download. Here are the ones I found:

wop_p47_v1.2 (this says I have a file corruption in my computer; reinstalled FS2k4, then reinstall WOP)

wwiif_v1.2 (says it can't find WOP/WWII fighters on my computer)

wop2_p47_fsx_fix (said the same thing)

There may be other patches out there but I can't find them. I've looked specifically for the v1.1 patch. Apparently there isn't one. The one reference I found to it showed a checkered-cowl P-47 clean in a photo, and the caption below it referred to a 1.1 patch yet the download was for the 1.2 patch (first one listed above).
Not sure what to do at this point. It would seem I am fated never to remove the tubes from the aircraft.

that's the thread with the WOPII P47 fsx update in it. Assuming you are running the WOPII version?
