It's an update to that story, actually. This version speculates that if the Burma cache is a rumor proven to be real, then there might be hundreds of buried Spitfires all over the world.

I have a plan. Once they're uncrated and reassembled, they could fill them with fuel and fly them back to the UK. This would take many days of course.

I know that any of us Spitfire owners would gladly volunteer for the arduous, torturous, terribly horrible task. 8)

(Besides, what fun would it be to just heave the crates into Maersk cargo trailers and then trudge them back to the UK on a cargo scow?)

Then when they get back to the UK the rightful owners, the RAF, can reintroduce them into front-line service, especially considering all the cuts going on at the MOD :wink:
If the software hiccups currently undermining future fighter aircraft are anything to go by, we might well have a winner on our hands :P

Either way, If I found one on a trip to Burma it would definitely remain 'undiscovered' and just a coincidence that I had acquired a Spitfire the very same week.

IMO A2A should at least get one of them :wink: After all the work they have done for the community, and recreation of the Mark I and II it would just be plain rude not to. Shame the Government don't see it that way, but then again this the government that ............... {Insert endless list of high profile balls ups- (replace with bad word)}

0.27 Yes.

I approve of the use of Blackadder to convey the message. :D

I can't wait to see this story progress some more!! I sure wouldn't mind poking around and finding a few Spitfires in boxes!
