So I guess the inner Wild Bill did not win?

oh, it did trust me, it won lol...next week i will be getting her provided things work out, like i am litterally itching to fly the p-40 haha

I figured Wild Bill would win.
You are going to love the P-40, there is a certain satisfaction you get just looking at her on the tarmac, she just looks ready to rumble. Then the whine of the inertial starter will give you goosebumps. ...and it just keeps getting better from there. One hint, assign a joystick button to the hydraulic pump, you will need it. The p-40 keeps you busy in the cockpit. The electric hydraulic pump will be your best friend.
Regards,
Dave

I think a lot of us would appreciate if a painter would take the time to complete the nose art! My father in law was the one that painted the plane for Duffy (minus the nose art that Velasco did).

This begs the question; At what point in Kwitcher's life is the A2A paint depicting? Because, while were at it, the lettering looks different as well.

i noticed that too...i mean its interesting isnt it? this is one of the first repaints ive seen like this where it feels unfinished..i dont know if thats the case or not though, and guys as far as the p-40, i plan on getting her and putting loads of hours onto her when i do get her heh..
Re: p-51 kwitcherbitchin missing part of the noseart?
The Kwitcherbitchin paint (not mine I believe?) is based on the aircraft that flew with the 457th FS, 506th FG from Iwo Jima in 1945.
The modern warbird is based on it as well, but clearly their research was not so good.
Anyway, the original had no mosquito,as did several other 457th aircraft.

FS painter. You'll find most of my FS9/FSX/P3D paints here.

My guess is that the photo above was taken before the noseart was completed? Artwork was usually done as the aircraft was available and the painter wasn't busy with other duties.

Re: p-51 kwitcherbitchin missing part of the noseart?
that could be a possibility, i know usually when someone takes the namesake from another aircraft they try doing it as close to the real thing as they could, miss Mitchel the b25 flying today replicated her noseart as close as possible from what i understand..i talked to one of her crewman for like 20 minutes, got up close and personal with about 6 b-25s last october at an airshow...beautiful aircraft (accusim one please!)

#531 and another P-51 from the 457th Fighter Squadron:
But photos of "502" show a completed squadron patch noseart.
So my revised theory is that the patch was painted on several or all of the squadron's aircraft at the same time using progressive stencils, and that many of the available photos were taken within a very narrow timeframe during that process.

What I'm getting from this is that the A2A paint is authentic for that part of the aircraft's history. Job done! If there are photographs of it at a later date maybe someone would do the, for once an accurate description, repaint.
Interesting thread. Who IS/WAS the original painter for the A2A one?
