To go along with my T-6 opinion (still #1 for me ) How about a PT-17 Stearman or Piper J-3 Cub?
It would be nice to fly the whole spectrum of WWII technology in WOP aircraft.. from the Cub.... to a Stearman.... to a T-6......... skip a few and u will find a P-51

Don't forget the Vultee Vibrator,(Maytag Washing Machine); the Beech AT 7, and the Curtiss AT9.
Actully the "Texan" was called an AT-6 then.... It wasn't until it became the primary and basic trainer after the War that it was called a T-6.
Since AT stood for "Advanced Trainer" the designation no longer applied to it.
