I agree the Greeks are friendly people. It does look like a very fun vacation spot Lewis.
I myself had an interesting conversation with a Greek individual.
It was a message board about the 2004 Greek Olympics (back in 2004).
I mentioned how my father piloted a bombing mission in 1944 South of Athens.I couldn't believe it the Greek guy told me that it was a Luftwaffe airbase South of Kalamakion and that he was there.I mean THERE in 1944 and witnessed the bombing of the airfield. And sure enough it was exactly like what was written in my fathers flight logs. It's that mission on Sept 15th,1944 that says Athens under the historical missions in WOP heavy bombers and jets.Wow what a very strange coincidence.
My dad was flying A.C.# 231836 Pig Chaser that day.In the last couple of days I recently found out about more names and numbers of the bombers that my father piloted(or copiloted) back in 1944.
Another wierd thing is I compared the 1944 bombing photo with a recent google earth photo.
Those are beautiful pictures.I might have to consider vacationing in Greece someday but first I want to go to Italy.

Oh come on Lewis you are pulling my leg you know it's B-17's.
They were stationed at Celone airbase 6 miles north of the town of Foggia Italy. However my father had a friend who was a B-24 pilot.
Celone was first used by 223 squadron RAF from Oct 1943 to Mar 1944 after its capture from the Germans who used it as one of their JU-88 Airbases.
Anyway enjoy your vacation and try to find another Greek antikythera mechanism when you are there.
