Re: The secret airplane in development
So, since it sounds like it's not a Stearman, are there any good A2A level Stearman models out there? I'd love an awesome Stearman trainer.
Re: The secret airplane in development
A2A-level? No. Vertigo and GAS offer them, but not really study aircraft. It's A2A or nothing for me. The Model 75 has always been at the top of my wish list.FlyingsCool wrote:are there any good A2A level Stearman models out there?

@Scott and team: I know the Bonanza worked great as distraction but we still haven't forgotten about this thread...
Re: The secret airplane in development
No, we haven't. In fact, just yesterday I suddenly found myself looking up T-33 videos - something about that past video snippet with the oxygen mask and the 90-knot indicated airspeed, plus some old mentions, plus the PC Pilot interview where Scott mentioned a turbojet (or was it a turbine?)... plus something Lewis said the other day to the effect that the repainters will like what's in the works...Flieger-Marius wrote:...we still haven't forgotten about this thread...
Obviously I've got nothing to go on - there aren't a lot of tea leaves to read here - but I'm happy to help stir the pot...

Re: The secret airplane in development
Oh a T33 would be amazing, indeed!
Helped a friend restore one that he bought with some other colleagues.
Was a very twisted story, with one of the transfer pilots ending up in a Belgian jail cause he had a fight with Belgian ATC and the bad luck of a technical problem, forcing him to divert to a Belgian field, if I remember correctly. Not sure the bail was part of the purchase price in the end.
Anyway, when the thing was completely restored, my friend introduced the financier of the project from the backseat, that guy panicked when he needed to switch tanks and my friend had to set her down in a wheat field after the flame-out. Luckily we're gliderpilots, so you see fields with other eyes and the bird was unscathed. However, the financier wasn't all to fond of it anymore and cause you can't afford these things alone, it was eventually sold again.
Bottom line: Removing the paint and polishing that damn aluminum weren't worth it...

How on the Earth is that even possible, for Pete's sake!Flieger-Marius wrote:[...] my friend introduced the financier of the project from the backseat, that guy panicked when he needed to switch tanks and my friend had to set her down in a wheat field after the flame-out.

That's quite a story.Flieger-Marius wrote:Oh a T33 would be amazing, indeed!

Now you've got me thinking about how they could capture that experience in a sim version - sort of a COTS, but for warbirds and their owners and (panicked) investors...
OK, my last shred of evidence in favor of a T-33 - there's one that lives here, where A2A has something of a history - look at the rest of the aircraft gallery for clues.
And that's all I've got - I'll rest my (thin) case now and keep watching this thread...

Re: The secret airplane in development
Do you know the full story of that transfer, Christian?
My memory is a bit diluted because back then he only told it after quite a number of beers because there's LBA personnel in our club he wasn't very fond of sharing it with.
