Considering the full wing Cub's roll rate is counted in days instead of degrees per second the clipped wing Cub is an improvement.

Flew a 1964 Cessna 182G back in 2007-2010. Absolutely loved that plane will never forget the smells and sounds.
  • All the while doing FSX as a supplement as the plane / hangar was an hour away.

Plane got sold before I soloed, subsequently quit flight sim after for a long time.

Took up First Person Shooters and ran 200FPS in BF4 for a quite a while.

Found DCS World, looked interesting told myself it was military I'd never go back to civilian aviation.

Then found how unrealistic DCS was with ATC, weather, etc but very much liked being back flying.

I realized my old Carenado license key was no longer available to view / download.

Literally googled "The best FSX G.A. Aircraft" and found A2A.

Purchased the Cherokee and flew it exclusively for almost a year.

Purchased a gazillion other A2A planes.
More recently I'm going back to the Cherokee, as hopping from plane to plane every flight is unrealistic for most pilots and gets old sometimes because nothing is consistent.

Yes I was one who flew a plane, before I could/was supposed to drive a car.

It's interesting to see the cycle. This occurred over ~8-9 years.

T-37, F-4, F-104, A-10. B-727, DC-9, MD-80, ERJ-170/190.

And a J-3 back in the 70s. It was neat.

Sounds like the C152. The trick to rolling the Aerobat is holding the G perfectly at "1" throughout the roll so that after the kettle boils you can still pour the coffee and drink it without it spilling it on the passenger :)

Looking at my logbook..not a lot of hours (just over 200), only 11 types but mostly aerobatics ...

C152 and C152 Aerobat
C172 (R model mainly but a couple of earlier ones for a few hours)
Tecnam (THE worst aircraft IN the world)
Eurostar (another RA aircraft...not really my thing)
Debonair
Super Decathlon
Nanchang
Extra 300 (2 hours of pure bliss and a flying life long ambition.. learning Lomcevak... realised )
DH82 Tiger Moth (the BEST 6 hours of my life!)
Duchess
Baron

and if all goes well, within the next six months, Spitfire 9T. Usually, if I don't land 'em, I don't log 'em..but I'm definitely making an exception here!!!! :)

Hey guys,
First post here, I’ve been reading from the shadows a long time I figure it is time to come out lol
Just finishing my PPL, bought a Citabria in February and have my flight test next week. Have logged about 25 hours PIC in it and previously
Cessna 180-90 hours dual(left seat)
Cessna 182-50 hours PIC
On track to get a seat flying a Thrush (I hope)

For fun, 3.5 hours PIC in a T6/Harvard (hopefully finishing a solo check ride in the fall)
1 hour in a stearman
Half hour in a Cessna Crane

Still loving A2A’s T6, can’t get over how similar it is to the real one.

No comparison really.
Roll rate is improved by the shorter span as well as much larger ailerons.
A real blast to fly while not causing too much financial hardship!

Back when I got into aerobatics, Duane Cole was active in our community with a BF-50 clipped wing Taylorcraft. It was highly modified even to the engine and he flew a wonderful display routine in it. If it hadn't been for Curtis Pitts coming along with the plane that revolutionized aerobatics that clipped wing T-Craft would most likely have maintained superiority for several more years.
They were fun times when pilots like the Cole's and Curtis made vast improvements in our experimental aviation world.

Currently about 5000TT flying a Citation Excel for my day job, and a Stearman, T6, T34, B24, and B29 (on Monday!) as much as I can when I am off. I grew up flying gliders, RC, and flight sim and don't think I would be where I am now without it.
