INSTALL.LOG

Post by caleb1 »

Does anyone know where the INSTALL.LOG file is? I am asked to browse for it when running the C:\Users\Caleb\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\A2A\A2A\Cessna172\UNWISE.EXE to uninstall an A2A plane.

Many thanks,
Caleb

Hello Caleb,

Have you tried uninstalling the original version of the C712 using the entry in the Windows 10 "App & features" window? Running the "Unwise.exe" file directly to uninstall isn't recommended.

Thanks,
Nick

Thanks for the reply. When I do that, it says it can't find the INSTALL.log. Is this normal?

I am also trying to go through the new installer process but none of my aircraft appear in the apps and features section on Windows 10. Is there another way to uninstall?

I am also having the same problem with my 172, Cherokee and T-6. Cant find any of the aircraft in "Apps and Features" to be able to uninstall them.

Hi Caleb,

If you're seeing this message when you try to uninstall with the old C172 installer, the following steps will hopefully help you to uninstall successfully:

1. Open a command prompt (you can access the command prompt by right clicking the Windows 10 Start Button).

2. Type in the following command and press enter: cd C:\Users\Caleb\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\A2A\A2A\Cessna182

3. Then type the following command and press enter: unwise.exe wos_c172.log

This post shows a screenshot (using the example of the C182).

Hello guys,

The very early installers which A2A released for Prepar3D v4 (I think they were replaced after just a couple of weeks) didn't include an uninstaller. In this case, you can just manually delete the entire "Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\A2A" folder.

Thanks,
Nick

Thanks for the help Nick, sounds like that will do the job!

P.s. I am so glad you guys chose to respect LM and put the effort into installing your products outside of the sim. If only all Devs did the same!

You're welcome Andrew - yes, I think it makes it a lot easier to keep track of which files are installed (and get rid of any leftovers) when add-ons are installed in this way. Please let us know if you have issues with the new installers, and just note that it's advisable to run Prepar3D once between removing old products and installing the replacements for it to refresh the add-ons.cfg files.

Thanks,
Nick

Thanks Nick! The installer worked after following the steps you suggested. May I ask one more thing: what exactly goes on the second line for the Cherokee and Comanche in place of "unwise.exe wos_c172.log"?

Thanks

Sure thing Caleb - I reinstalled them on my system to check. :)

For the Cherokee, type: unwise.exe wos_cherokee180.log

And for the Comanche: unwise.exe co250.log

Thanks,
Nick

Ok, many thanks Nick.
I would have never guessed that so I'm glad you told me!
I don't want to make you reinstall another plane but I'm guessing it's "unwise.exe j3.log" for the Cub?
Thanks a lot I really appreciate it.

It's okay - I probably need to make a list of these commands anyway for future reference for customers uninstalling with the old installers. For the FSX J-3 there are actually two installers: one for the Cub and one for its Accu-Sim pack.

The commands for each respectively should be: unwise.exe wj3.log and unwise.exe wj3a.log. I think it may be best to uninstall the latter first. Of course, there's no P3Dv4 version of the Cub yet. :|

Cheers,
Nick

Thanks Nick. I currently use the J3 in FSX:SE, but I can't wait for the P3D version. :)
