If you mean an external SSD then no. What I have is P3D v4 installed on its own dedicated internal SSD.

Not worth the effort unless you have 10Gb/s network cards - not something common for home lan yet. For 1Gb/s card, max. transfer will be similar to what you get from rotating disk.
