GA Turbo airplanes
Any chance we could ever see something like a Turbo 206 or a T182 from A2A? or even something with a manual waste gate. To clarify, not a turbine, but a piston with a turbo charger

We do have the P51 (supercharger) and the P47 (turbocharger) in our fleet .CaptainRodney wrote:Any chance we could ever see something like a Turbo 206 or a T182 from A2A? or even something with a manual waste gate. To clarify, not a turbine, but a piston with a turbo charger
Perhaps a GA type in the future.

Google "P47 Turbocharger System" Lots of data ! The main thing is to always keep the boost behind the throttle. That's rule 1. Research will give you the rest. We have a film I believe that explains much of it. I see Lewis has stuck it up here for you.CaptainRodney wrote:Any info on turbo management in the 47? You're a cruel man, Lewis, for posting video of the plane I now most want for P3D.
Cheers,
Mike

Works great and right now, today, in use by thousands in FSX

Re: GA Turbo airplanes
We spent a lot of time creating the turbocharging system in the P-47. That turbo boost lever gets more sensitive the higher you move it, so if you are not careful you can over boost the engine. You also have to be careful with your throttle movements, as to not pull back while the turbo is under pressure, then trapping that pressure back on the turbo itself (that is supposed to be the one making the pressure). You can physically blow out the turbo. We modeled this including the damaged system.
The P-47 is one of the fastest high altitude fighter of WWII, faster than the 51 way up high. We also modeled the turbo speeds and temps, and overspeed conditions. The best thing about Accu-Simming the 47 is the entire aircraft can be manually run. I think of it as a single engined 377, with the turbo supercharged engine. "Turbo Supercharged" has such a nice ring to it.

Re: GA Turbo airplanes
Yes, the P-47 is a masterpiece. It may be old, but that doesn't matter as it's still the best. The attention to detail you guys gave this was well worth the effort. I've had lots of fun in this beauty over the years, but I no longer run FSX as I've moved on to P3D V4. This and the Cub are the two planes I itch for the most so the sooner these are converted to P3D format, the better.
Cheers,
Mike
