QualityWings 757 FSX Shockwave Config

Post by Spartan0536 »

Below is my hand made from scratch config for the Quality Wings 757-200 NO Winglet and 757-300 NO Winglet... These configs are up-to-date with A2A's Shockwave 1.2a Patch and QualityWings FSX 757 v1.2 Patch. It seems as if the models have model attached lights to them, I tried to overlay as best as possible while keeping it as realistic as possible according to YouTube videos I watched. If someone could help me with making it compatible with the winglet models (if that's possible) I would be greatly appreciative, if not or not possible you may use my work here as a base, just please make sure to give credit where it is due in your post.

QualityWings FSX 757-200 No Winglet v1.2 Config:

Code: Select all

[lights]

light.0 = 1, 16.1, 0, -2.55, fx_shockwave_beaconb

Thanks for the Configuration, it works fine for me.

Culley36, if you are still having trouble the way to install the no winglets lights is as follows;

Open folder FSX/SimObjects/Airplanes
Open folder QualityWings 752 Passenger
Open file Aircraft.cfg
Search for entry headed [ lights ]
change entry to say [originallights ] that way you can always use them again if you don't like the shockwave version.
Copy and install the settings provided
Lastly don't forget to save the changes in the Aircraft.cfg

If you are worried about stuffing it up just make a back up copy of the Aircraft.cfg before you start.

Give it a go, it isn't that hard

Hello folks,

I tired this configuration and all is okay until the wings lift up (or move with turbulence), then the Navred, and Navgreen, and wing strobes stay in a fixed position below the wing tips during wing lift or turbulence. I cannot figure out how to get the shockwave lights to move along with that dynamic wing movement (yet!). Anybody here that can help with this or give some ideas so I can research it? All I've been able to do, using the work above, are keep the lights that do remain in position - those being the upper and lower fuselage strobes and landing/taxi lights, and the lights on the side of the fuselage that light up the wings as the fuselage doesn't have any dynamic movement (of course). I think we either need someone with XML coding knowledge to help here, or someone with model configuration knowledge. Either, or both of which may be a way to get the winglet models to work as a bonus to all. In other words, the QW wingtip lights may be "built in" to the wings on the model config - that be the case, someone with SDK knowledge may be able to "see" the model config using tools that convert it to plain text so it can be edited.
In the interim, I will do some research into this (I am about to install the FSX SDK toolkit and service packs that are freely available) and try to offer a configuration for all models as this is one of my favourite aircraft - mostly because it can be used in a simple (nav/gps) mode or full (lnav/vnav) mode for those that know about FMS use (I always use the FMS in as realistic mode as possible - though the QW's FMS is a little more limited than the PMDG or LevelD's, it still does a fairly good job.
Of course, I will give full credit for your work above! Thank you for your contribution. It takes a lot of time to do this work and there is no remuneration; that effort is much appreciated!! :-)

Best regards,
Bill

I agree with the floating light issue as regards turbulence but I can live with that.
My main issue was with a light that hung below the nose of the aircraft after raising the gear.
I assumed it was a taxi light that was stuck on but apparently it's a landing light.
Has anyone had the same problem and if so is there a workaround?

Thx. :?

The light hanging below is okay (make sure you aren't using the "gear" taxi/landing light configuration otherwise they will never go away) because you simply turn off the taxi/landing lights and it goes away . However, I for one can't live with the nav red and nav green lights hanging below the wings, so I turned them off (putt // in front of them). If you look at the original nav red and nav green lights, they are built into the wings in the model itself and stay there even after adding thew shockwave lights. I am working on this issue - these original red and green lights aren't really lights - they are simply the colors red and green that can be turned off or on... Even the red beacon lights on top and bottom of the fuselage are always there regardless of the addition of the shockwave addition. These are also modelled like the wing-tip red and green lights.

I think I may have a solution soon and will post as soon as I find the way to :
1) get rid of the original red and green "blobs" of paint on the wingtips and red blobs on top/bottom of the fuselage
2) make the shockwave navred and navgreen move in harmony with the wings.

Interestingly, the "hanging" taxi/landing lights are also prevalent in the LevelD 767 until they are switched off. I read it somewhere but am still searching for the solution. From memory, somebody was able to get them to turn off as the gear was retracted. I wish I bookmarked that thread!

Ok, that's good to hear.
I'll wait until there's a solution available.

Many thanks.
