Well,
The situation looks like this:
I tried first (changin' gauge 21 in panel.cfg of b738) It was like this before:
gauge21=B737_800!efis_control_panel, 416,344

i changed it to:
gauge21=shockwave_lights!SW Lights_taxi_gear, 1,1,1,1 //shockwave light

Nothing happened.

Then i changed lights in aircraft.cfg. It was like this before:
light.12 = 5, 41.85, 0.0, -6.8, fx_Shockwave_landing_light // Shockwave light

i changed it to:
light.12 = 6, 41.85, 0.0, -6.8, fx_Shockwave_landing_light // Shockwave light

Landing lights still go of when i gear up, but i can have a taxi light hangin below the airplane (freely :))

when i change light.10 and light.11 to=6 then i have the lights on or of whenever i want, but these are no more landing lights , these work with taxi lights switch.

Sorry that i cause you trouble, but is there a way to seperate gear and landing lights?

Ok, final report:

I got it solved as i want. Let me tell you how. Just like you said :) I just had to read what you wrote at the very beginning 2-3 times (don't laugh pls) to realize what i was doing and NOT doing. Shortly:

aircraft.cfg i changed the lights: it was ...=5,.... before i made it ...=6,...

light.12 = 6, 41.85, 0.0, -6.8, fx_Shockwave_landing_light // Shockwave light
light.13 = 6, 36, 0, -18, fx_shockwave_landing_light_light,

and in panel.cfg i changed in gauge29=shockwave_lights!SW Lights_gear,.... to
gauge29=shockwave_lights!SW Lights_taxi_gear, 1,1,1,1 //shockwave light

So;
I retract landing gear and landing lights don t go of, i can switch them on or of from the overboard panel, taxi light is switchable, i can turn it on or of, too, what s better, it goes of automaticaly when i gear up. :) best configuration a man, better said, this man wants...
Tx for your help

AWESOME !!!
Now I can freely switch on and off the landing lights...

:D But here's the catch.. When the landing gear is retracting, the taxi light viewed from spot (outside) view switches off... (perfectly worked)...
:o BUT, the taxi light panel on the cockpit also switches off..(not what I had in mind)..
:( THEN, when approaching the runway, I extend the landing gear, and the taxi light is still off. So I had to switch in on manually... (Definitely not what I had in mind)

I've switched the config around and I can't solve it...
So, Is there any way, that when the landing gear is retracted the taxi light switch off from the spot view, but not from the cockpit panel. So that when the landing gear is extended, the taxi light switch on automatically from the spot view ???

In other words, the taxi light is ALWAYS ON but inside the "gear house" (I dunno what it's called)..

Can anyone help me with this?

Guys, i cant seem to find a way to make the taxi lights of the CRJ-700 turn on independently from the landing lights. Could anyone help me please. Maybe show me the aircraft.cfg section of [LIGHTS].

Thank You,

Hi Albert,
here's the aircrafts lights section (you need the panel cfg also it's under the lightssectoin):

[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing 6=Taxilight
light.0 = 3, -104.63, 0.00, 14.30, fx_shockwave_navwhi_l ,
light.1 = 1, -29.00, 0.00, -2.30, fx_shockwave_beaconb_nl ,
light.2 = 2, -104.63, 0.00, 15.00, fx_shockwave_strobe_nl ,
light.3 = 1, -32.50, 0.00, 7.00, fx_shockwave_beaconh_lowl ,
light.4 = 2, -64.50, -36.70, -0.50, fx_shockwave_strobe_2 ,
light.5 = 2, -64.50, 36.70, -0.50, fx_shockwave_strobe_3 ,
light.6 = 3, -64.70, -37.10, -0.50, fx_shockwave_navred_nl ,
light.7 = 3, -64.70, 37.10, -0.50, fx_shockwave_navgre_nl ,
light.8 = 4, -10.00, 0.00, 3.90, fx_shockwave_vclight,
light.9 = 6, -5.00, 0.00, -2.85, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_double_small // Shockwave light
light.10 = 5, -45.0, 5.8, -1.7, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_narrow // Shockwave light
light.11 = 5, -45.0, -5.8, -1.7, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_narrow // Shockwave light
light.12 = 6, -22.00, 0.00, -18, fx_shockwave_landing_light_light,

Re: A small tutorial of the 3D lights process

Post by FLY-Albert »

Thanks again Joost!!

I have been trying to make them work on my own but couldn't. But I think im starting to see a pattern here. On the [LIGHTS] section in the aircraft.cfg the numbers that have the 0.00 afterwards are the ones that need to be changed, also taking in account that the must be landing lights. For Example:

[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing 6=Taxilight
light.0 = 3, -104.63, 0.00, 14.30, fx_shockwave_navwhi_l ,
light.1 = 1, -29.00, 0.00, -2.30, fx_shockwave_beaconb_nl ,
light.2 = 2, -104.63, 0.00, 15.00, fx_shockwave_strobe_nl ,
light.3 = 1, -32.50, 0.00, 7.00, fx_shockwave_beaconh_lowl ,
light.4 = 2, -64.50, -36.70, -0.50, fx_shockwave_strobe_2 ,
light.5 = 2, -64.50, 36.70, -0.50, fx_shockwave_strobe_3 ,
light.6 = 3, -64.70, -37.10, -0.50, fx_shockwave_navred_nl ,
light.7 = 3, -64.70, 37.10, -0.50, fx_shockwave_navgre_nl ,
light.8 = 4, -10.00, 0.00, 3.90, fx_shockwave_vclight,
light.9 = 6, -5.00, 0.00, -2.85, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_double_small // Shockwave light
light.10 = 5, -45.0, 5.8, -1.7, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_narrow // Shockwave light
light.11 = 5, -45.0, -5.8, -1.7, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_narrow // Shockwave light
light.12 = 6, -22.00, 0.00, -18, fx_shockwave_landing_light_light,

What needs to be changed in the panel.cfg is that line that appears with the shockwave word in it. We just put a "//" before it so that it is not read by the program.

Well man thank you for the help AGAIN, and if anything I said before ain't true correct me, cauz some other people might read it and get confuse if it is wrong.

Happy Landings
Albert

Hello! Sorry, this has been a little while since the last post here, but it's the most relevant spot for this.

As prescribed above, I went through the steps to resolve the gear light problem, and have my 747 gear light turn off when the gear was retracted. Unfortunately, after spending about 2 hours with trial and error using the techniques described above, I still cannot get this to work right. My light remains on when I pull the gear up. I don't know if it's me still not seeing this right, or there's a setting I missed, but here are some examples of what I am facing...

Image Image

The landing and taxi lights DO work independently, but only when I touched the switches in the cockpit. My issue is getting the taxi gear lights to shut off when I raise the gear.

Here's the relevant parts of the PANEL.cfg and AIRCRAFT.cfg from my copy. Everything looks as it should, so I don't understand what's going on. If one of those amazing people above that got this to work could point out what I'm doing wrong, I would be greatly appreciative.

Hello all
I need some explanations about the Landing Lights entry in panel.cfg

That's what I found in the database of the website:
PMDG 747-400
PANEL.CFG
[VCockpit01]
gauge20=shockwave_lights!SW Lights, 1,1,1,1 //shockwave light
gauge21=shockwave_lights!SW Lights_taxi_gear, 1,1,1,1 //shockwave light
But in the topic, I've found
PANEL.CFG DEFINITIONS
SW Lights_foldwing – Turns off LANDING lights when placed on folding wings and wings are folded
SW_Lights_gear – Turns off LANDING lights when placed on retractable landing gear and gear is retracted
SW_Lights_taxi_gear - Turns off TAXI lights when placed on retractable landing gear and gear is retracted
What's the right code ?
Sincerely

hi guys i have the twin seneca from carenado pretty much got it to work but i have a problem the light are higher than what i want i have try to lower the but i can't,this is what i look like:
LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon light, 2=strobe light, 3=navigation light, 4=cockpit illumination, 5=landing light, 6=taxi light

light.0 = 3, -5.15, -18.75, 1.16, fx_shockwave_navred,//Wingtip red
light.1 = 3, -5.15, 18.75, 1.12, fx_shockwave_navgre,//wingtip green
light.2 = 10, -4.0, 0, 1.90, fx_vclightpa34
light.3 = 10, -8.25, 0, 1.80, fx_vclightpa342
light.4 = 2, -5.30, -18.75, 1.16, fx_strobecarenpa34
light.5 = 2, -5.30, 18.75, 1.12, fx_strobecarenpa34
light.6 = 8, -3.65, -16.10, 2.145, fx_icelight_pa34
light.7 = 1, -21.20, 0.05, 6.35, fx_shockwave_beacon_rotating_red
light.8 = 5, +3.50, -00.1, -0.002, fx_shockwave_landing_light, // landing lights
light.9 = 6, +3.50, -00.1, -0.002, fx_shockwave_landing_light_short, // taxi lights -

hope someone can help the lights are above the landing gear on the nose section i just need to lower thenand they will be good.

Hi,

So i got things working - for 737 - almost. Now I can turn on and off what I want and how I want, but:

Is it possible to have the Taxi Light turn off when the landing gear is retracted? and turn on when is down? However I would still like to keep the ability to turn it off and on mayself.

Can someone advice what needs to be amended in either panel and aircraft cfg's?

Thanks!

hknsky wrote:Ok, final report:

I got it solved as i want. Let me tell you how. Just like you said :) I just had to read what you wrote at the very beginning 2-3 times (don't laugh pls) to realize what i was doing and NOT doing. Shortly:

aircraft.cfg i changed the lights: it was ...=5,.... before i made it ...=6,...

light.12 = 6, 41.85, 0.0, -6.8, fx_Shockwave_landing_light // Shockwave light
light.13 = 6, 36, 0, -18, fx_shockwave_landing_light_light,

and in panel.cfg i changed in gauge29=shockwave_lights!SW Lights_gear,.... to
gauge29=shockwave_lights!SW Lights_taxi_gear, 1,1,1,1 //shockwave light

So;
I retract landing gear and landing lights don t go of, i can switch them on or of from the overboard panel, taxi light is switchable, i can turn it on or of, too, what s better, it goes of automaticaly when i gear up. :) best configuration a man, better said, this man wants...
Tx for your help

Hello mate...

I´m trying to modify the lights for the Baron 58

This is what it looks like:

gauge00=G1000!MFD_Baron, 0,0,765,500
gauge01=G1000!audio_panel, 779,513,97,511
gauge02=G1000!G1000_PFD, 0,514,765,500
gauge03=shockwave_lights!SW Lights_gear, 1,1,1,1 //shockwave light

[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing
light.0 = 3, -6.81, -19.30, 1.17, fx_shockwave_navred ,
light.1 = 3, -6.82, 19.29, 1.17, fx_shockwave_navgre ,
light.2 = 3, -25.33, 0.01, 1.08, fx_shockwave_navwhi_nl ,
light.3 = 2, -6.48, -19.04, 1.17, fx_shockwave_strobe ,
light.4 = 2, -6.48, 19.04, 1.17, fx_shockwave_strobe_2 ,
light.5 = 1, -24.20, 0.00, 6.54, fx_shockwave_beaconh_lowl ,
light.6 = 2, -7.52, 0.01, -1.28, fx_shockwave_strobe_3_nl ,
light.7 = 4, -8.30, 0.00, 3.00, fx_shockwave_vclight,
light.8 = 5, .84, 0.0, -1.5, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_small // Shockwave light
light.9 = 5, -1.4, 7.0, .1, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_small // Shockwave light
light.10 = 5, -1.4, -6.8, .1, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_small // Shockwave light

What needs to be changed?

I´ve already made changes as suggested in this thread but I end up raising the gear with a taxi light hanging below the nose as the landing lights go out automatically.

What to do, what to do!
