Hi everyone, my name is Jeff. I am very inexperienced in adding 3D lights but have been successful with the WilcoPub Legacy. I did a lot of searching and found a couple of unanswered threads for the Eaglesoft Citation X. Found one thread with 3d settings for an earlier version but it does not work with the FSX version. I was wondering if anyone lately has had success with adding 3d lights to the Eaglesoft Citation X for FSX and could they post their settings or maybe point me to a thread that I may have missed.

Thank you,
Jeff G.

These cannot be used with the Citation X v2.0 because the landing and taxi lights are not controlled by the default landing light and taxi light controls.

Instead, the landing and taxi belly lights, and the wingtip recog lights are controlled by custom variables and all six lights have separate electrical controls. Furthermore, the Pulselite system requires this level of independent control so it can 'wig-wag' the landing/taxi/recog lights, as the real Citation X does. 8)

The Citation X v1.0 did not have this advanced lighting, but even so the default landing light circuit is not used to control the landing lights! It is used instead for gauge backlighting in the virtual cockpit...

Thanks for the answer Bill. It is still a good plane, I was just hoping to make it that much sweeter.

If I want "sweetness" I use sugar...

I noticed your question in a daily "Google Search" I set up a few years ago for "Eaglesoft." I had to register here and wait a day so I could post a reply...

With a bit of effort, one could abuse the smoke.x system to add .fx style light sources such as Shockwave's to the Citation X, then write a controller XML script "gauge" that uses the same custom (L:variables) that the model uses, but...

...those would only be visible when at least one engine was running.

A few months ago I wrote an XML script that animated a set of "lights" (99 of 'em!) in a panel, similar to that shown in the movie "Independence Day." It was just a bit of whimsy for testing out this peculiar use of the smoke.x system.
