can i change the hp to 1,200 ? representing the later more capable Allison. Will it make a difference in the flight characteristics ?

Yes it will affect the flight model with regards 'flying to the numbers'.

best way is to make the change and then see if you like it. However we of course cannot support it directly if anything too crazy happens.

...but it should be fine, and if it doesnt work just change the values back to default.
