Flying the Guppy with FE on and just cruising along nicely when he says "carburetor air temps are a bit high" I didn't do anything as I thought he would take care of it. A minute later he says the same thing and then over and over. I go back to the FE station panel and look and he is flipping switches like it's a pinball machine.

Ok this is not right, he keeps switching carb heat, ram air and something else I can't remember on and off all the while the carb air heat is getting very high. I told him to take a walk and chill out, must have had a rough night or something. I then opened ram air, turned off carb heat and opened the cooler thingy flaps a bit and the carb air temps came down. When they were normal I shut off the cooler flap thingy and set air to sheltered but left carb heat off. I then sat back and enjoyed the rest of my little trip minus the FE.

I am not sure why the FE lost it but I hope he is better next trip or he is, as Mr. Trump would say, fired!

Bare in mind on the Guppy there are no turbos,no pressurization,no oxygen.Have too pick your altitude carefully."Virtual Flight Engineer Larry" is a bit particular on carburator temps.
Best Regards

Correct me if I am wrong but during flight, the carburator air must be always on RAM. Or did you close them to get a higher carb air temp (no turbo's). My choice would be RAM air, CARB HEAT on and intercooler flaps to regulate the temp.
