I have to admit, though, that I hope A2A doesn't elevate the number of chances of something going wrong on a flight with this package, just to make it more "exciting". Keep it real.

How about a new failure mode: Lose a prop blade, engine vibrates like hell for five or ten seconds, then lose the engine and nacelle altogether to the great void below. Was a faily common occurrence with the hollow Curtiss props the 377 sported, as in Pan American flight 202 over Brazil.

Cheers,

- jahman.

EDIT: Fixed link. Thanks, PV!

Jigsaw: nice pic. It is funny because when I first saw the B 377 I said to myself "what an ugly plane, I don't understand why A2A modelled that thing". Then I bought it because of Accusim. And I found quickly that I liked the B377 and when I see screnshots such as yours, I find it beautiful.

Yup, I think she is quite beautiful, with all the right proportions and very photogenic from all angles (still talking about an aircraft here). Many may find her ugly on first glance, because the 377 looks somewhat different from the airliners that we are used to. No monotube fuselage, no pointy nose under the cockpit windows etc. And that's also why pretty much everyone discovers her beauty once they get to know her and once they get accustomed to her curves (STILL talking about an aircraft!). ;)

I have to agree. I thought she was one of the ugliest aircraft I'd ever seen, untill I got to fly her, she really grows on you. Where Concord is like beautifull society girl, the stratocruiser is more like a country lass, good looking but tough :D .

I think I need to get out more, comparing aircraft to women

Actually it was the Hamilton props that suffered those types of failures. The void inside the props was foam filled, but after time the foam would begin to break up inside the prop, causing an imbalance that eventually created vibrations severe enough to shake the engine and tear it right off it's mounting. Until Hamilton came up with a solution, crews flying Hamilton-propped 377s had to perform a "tap test" on the props. Not a comfortably assuring check of the propeller's integrity, if you ask me... :|

The Curtiss Electric props were reliable and regarded as "trouble-free" in the 377 community.

I know. Sure they are doing great things behind closed doors. Just the waiting part stinks on ice for us! Good things do take time though (a lot of time). :(

Will there be an option to turn off the AI assistance for navigation and flight engineer if we want to do the work ourselves?

Any idea on the release date?

thanks.

Can't wait for this addon to be released, woohoo!

Scott, can you confirm whether a "Maintenance Hangar" will be included for incremental repairs, bringing the 377 in line with your B17 and Spitfire products?

This would (in my opinion) bring the 377 to the status of THE BEST and fullest-featured vintage airliner available for any consumer flight simulator to date.

Think: Beautiful model, realistic flight dynamics, quirks, wear and tear, maintenance, career and crew...all of these elements working together to make for the captain's role to be taken ever so seriously, and hence, a very rewarding experience time and again.

Thanks in advance, (credit card in hand and waiting)
Christian
