Sorry for what's probably an obvious answer but how does one set the cockpit view like in this video (45 seconds into it). Sort of like a wide lens view.

Thanks

Do you mean the 2D Gauges?

Stickman,

I just stumbled on this thread. I was looking to install 2D gauges on my desktop computer. While in Colorado, I had a lap top with all the updates and 2D gauges. Now, back in Chicago, I've updated with 2.08, MS and Hotfix3, but haven't been able to find the link for them.

Thanks for any help.

(I will be reinstating my Chicago computer information shortly)

When we were making the Tiger Moth, none of the TM gauges worked. Geoffrey modeled them and I painted them.
Added pointers as fixed paints, here:

Image

Ken, the flight model expert needed properly calibrated working gauges for his flight testing-modeling.
I made 2D gauges files for the Tiger Moth that popped up an entire panel with working gauges!
Er.. the vertical Inclomometer (sp?) and the Oil Pressure did not. Ken liked what I supplied, nevertheless.

Image

The 2D Gauge system is versatile, and can be made in many forms. Even I can make true working gauges with it.
Wish I had more time to work with it.

Stick,

Thanks for your reply. I tried both Buddye's and yours, but don't have the large dials. Could I have forgotten a key press combination or something in the BDG.txt file that needs to be reset?

Bill,
to activate the 2D Gauges, press the H key (for Head Up Display).
Normally, and with stock 2.08 files, only the Artificial Horizon will appear.
With Buddye's and my makes, we have enabled some of the gauges and indicators to appear. Or not.

There is nothing within the bdg.txt file that needs to be switched on / off.

I need to make a more concise user's guide here, as to 2D Gauges.
Not tonight, as it my 54th birthday. But.. I took a week's vacation, so maybe I can, later.
Beg your pardon.

Thanks, Stick

Strange, though. "H" didn't do anything with your modification, but I pasted back the file from Buddye's and it works just fine.

I think I forgot how to do it because I had it set all the time. But now I'm all set.

Oh! Very well, then. Use Buddye's if it makes better. It has my Spitfire and Emil fuel gauges.
The 2d Gauges are Work In Progress.
Buddye and I do not claim them to be perfect and polished, as of now.
We wanted to offer them to users, as very many of the 3D gauges are broken.
The BDG is a small brotherhood. Few of us are 3D artists or Coders.
Hell! I am just an oil refinery Mechanic, never properly educated.

Stick,

Don't sell yourself short. You do great work for those of us who have no clue about these things. I only reported that "H" didn't work with your gauges, but does with Buddye's. I've had some silly problems getting everthing to work: no question in my mind that it's been "Pilot Error."

As far as education, I practiced law for 40 years; got the cast-off computer of one of our secretaries when the company got new ones; developed a reputation as a wild man after I deleted all the "WP-51" files in an effort to make the clunker faster (Didn't know that they were the required files for Word Perfect).

Since then I've learned a lot, but am no where near you guys. I have nothing but appreciation for you work and for the wonderful "Time Machine" that BOBII is. Thanks, again.

Sorry but could we steer back to my original question? I fixed the broken link now.

Thanks

:D Hi stakenyf,
I THINK and i emphasize the THINK :) it is in the menu> options>view settings. It MAY be one of the field of view toggle settings.
I would suggest you look in the manual for a better understanding.
I did manage to do it under a previous version of the game but i haven't tried it yet with this one.
I do like the wide view as well, gives you a better "feel" when taking off or landing.
I will have a try again soon but if you do have any luck before me please post your findings on here. :)

stakenyf,

In the Options > Adv GUI, you can select differentFOV settings.
Put the Maximum at 110. Then select your desired Initial View. 110 if you like.
Or, you have 3 other settings Shift-F9, Shift-F10, and Shift-F11. You set FOV of 110 to one of those.

110 FOV:

100 FOV:
