A2A Simulations + Tønsberg Flying club C172 livery contest!

Post by Lewis - A2A »

A2A Simulations and Tønsberg Flying club present the C172 livery Competition!

The competition is to create an all new livery for the Accu-sim C172 Trainer simulation make it available and post your link here on the A2A community forums in this very thread, along with screen shots. The winning livery will be applied to a real C172 that the Tønsberg Flying club has recently purchased and the winner will also receive a $100 coupon for the A2A Simulations store!

So thats the potential to have your creation flying around Norway helping to teach new flyers in the real world and for two new Accu-sim simulations for your simulation!

The competition runs from the 13th July to the 27th July. The winner will be chosen by the Flying Club!

The RULES;

-Don't over do it (keep it relatively simple).
-The logo is blue and yellow, so feel free to change the colors of the logo as needed if required. (We don't want the aircraft to look "too Swedish" as this is a Norwegian flying club (the Swedish flag is blue and yellow)).
-Max 2 repaints per person

The contest pack with the above details, image of the aircraft, registration + club logo is available for download here;
http://www.a2asimulations.com/Paintkits ... 20pack.zip

The Paint kit for the Accu-sim C172 Trainer can be downloaded here;
http://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtop ... 07&t=35777
(The paint kit is available for new and old Photoshop versions (Works in PSP etc) + the free software Paint.net)

As the C172 is right now;

Wonderful contest - if you have the C172, of course. But if you have to win the competition to get this model... ah well, catch 22 ;)

Mind you... what would be wrong if I painted the default 172 to win the comp and then buy the A2A 172... ?

Naaahhhh let someone else do the winning - a realworld livery design by someone like Mirco Pecorari (Aircraft Studio Designs) costs loads more. Good luck folks and have fun!

I don't see anything under the rules about "Must own AccuSim C172", and the paint kit is a free download.

By 'don't over do it, keep it relatively simple' do they mean don't go with a fine detail design or do they mean keep coverage low, keeping to a simple fuselage sides only design?

I'd think the important thing to keep in mind would be whether your livery design could be executed in real life without bankrupting the flying club! :mrgreen: In other words, the judges will have to consider how practical and expensive it would be to apply each submission to the actual aircraft, as well as its artistic merit.

What a great idea for a contest by the way! :D

Cheers,
Nick

Heres the answer from Eric from the Flying Club

"Hey,

It's mostly to do with the price of getting the repaint done in real-life. For example, don't make a repaint where the entire fuselage is covered in stuff. Fine details and stuff is fine. We don't want it too bare either.
People can take some inspiration from airline liveries perhaps? But people can do whatever they wish! :)
Regards,
Eric"

Hope that helps, and remember there are two entries you can enter 8)

One more small detail that I forgot to mention in the rules is, we would like the registration markings to stay the way it is in its current state. It's mostly due to regulations regarding registration marking.
Keep em' coming guys!

here's a first attempt, based on a kiwi aircraft:

the red and blue are from the Norwegian flag (though they may need to be swapped, not sure there), the yellow and grey from the logo. The grey is a bit light I feel, I may need to experiment. But is this too much paint already?
Oh, and I wasn't sure about the size, color and font of the registration, your pic wasn't that clear, so I improvised.

One from me as well :-)
2-colour scheme (I've used the logo colours)

I am usually painting classic schemes. As this is a new aircraft, it deserves a more modern scheme.
The colours of the logo are beautiful, and the combination does not look Swedish to me (as the deep blue and warm yellow are much warmer and darker than colours of the Swedish flag).
I painted the propeller cone blue. Tønsberg Flyveklubb may want to keep the current chrome cone. If "flyveklubben.no" is desired, there's a lot of space where this can be applied.

In the end I will wish TF good luck with the new C 172 SP. I know this aircraft well, as it is similar to our LN-BTT 8)

Both my liveries can be downloaded here: https://www.sendspace.com/pro/dl/9qlde1

And with chrome prop cone:

Interesting contest!

I don't own the A2A C172, but grabbed the paintkit...

You said you don't want it to be too Swedish, well maybe mine is a bit too Norwegian :mrgreen:

I couldn't test this in sim as I said, hope you guys will check it out though :)

PS: Guess you'll be able to add it to cfg :roll:
