Commanding the Luftwaffe
The following are illustrated accounts of a single campaign (currently in progress), commanding the Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain. I hope through these actual in-game accounts, people can better understand the depth of the campaign system in Battle of Britain II. It is truly without equal and just amazing to experience first hand.

With all the diverse things going on in this comprehensive sim you could probably write a novel or a good short story on just playing a campaign. There are so many things that are happening on each mission the sim would basically write the story for you. All you would have to do is describe what is unfolding before your eyes. The only real work would be writing about what happens on the ground between missions. Yeah.........it's that good 8)

Hhhmm!

Actually, during the early days of Rowan's BoB, a few folks did start a
"Here's What Happened" thread,
describing their in air actions.
Many posters had writing skills, historical knowledge, and a good imagination,
so many good stories were written.

It developed into a brotherhood of sorts. Men that knew each other not, before,
became the best of friends.
A Toronto, Canada man mailed me a revealing pencil drawing of a woman
(claims it is not his wife).
A North Carolina man e-mails me copies of the oil paintings he does of wolves, knowing that I like them.
I mailed him a GFX card to supplant the weak one he had, for Christmas, one year.
I wrote several short stories about my life experiences,
things that I would never tell my mother!

It all started when guys described some game action, and had the feeling to post the experience.

I have spent many happy hours reading parts of that thread recently. It is still going strong (over on another forum) and never fails to raise a smile or even a loud guffaw at times.

I enjoy popping in from time to time to check for updates to it  .

Any chance of a link to that forum thread? It would be good to see a topic that has continued for a fair while on this sim.

What's amazing is that the linked thread is now 123 pages long and it is only the SECOND PART of the thread as it appears the first part was so large it locked up the forum!

Incredible!

Thanks for the link Killerwatt

Been going since 2001. That must be one of the longest threads in history of FlightSimlation.

It looks to provide a lot of good reading.

Thanks to this thread Scott, I've since started and restarted several Luftwaffe commander campaigns.

The stutter process was just to familiarize myself with the interface.

I have a fourth campaign that's lasted quite a while now, actually on July 16th, so I've been at it for 5 days.

At this point it's probably a 50 50 toss up between RFC and the Luftwaffe. But I've managed some very important steps in the battles. I've closed 5 or 6 airfields, I've closed one aircraft production facility and seriously damaged a second. I've closed down Dover docks, and have heavily damaged 2 of the 4 gas and oil industries. And to top it all off, last night's action ended with 6 attacks on the radar system with 4 of the 6 recieving heavy damage and the other two moderate damage.

Just got issued my first release of the Ju88s ... haven't flown them yet on any missions.

Just to let you know I've finished my 1st Luftwaffe campaign with a total destruction of the RAF by the 8th of August. :P

However, hindsight is better than any general!

Commanding the RAF is just as difficult. I am up to Aug 1st, 5 airfields gone and dove docks destoryed. The RAF is down to 250 fighters mostly hurricanes. My 54 sq spit pilot had 4 sorties 2 non contact over convoys. Then scrambled over convoy bread 30+ me 110s and ju88. got a part of a 110 and flamed a ju88 with a deflection shot as he dove out of the fight. lose 2 spits 2 damage. 4 88s down and at least 1 110 damaged. Last flight luanched against 100+ 109s and bombers. Never got to the bombers, the 109s were falling like rain turn into the fighters and was quickly flamed by a 109 I didnt see. So much things are going on in bob just love it.

Is it true the real turning point in the real life campaign was bombing London and not concentrating on the airfields ?
