Flight from KSAN to KCHS my home

Post by mer8771 »

First thing I learned was to check the weather and route as both made the first attempt not possible! circle for and hour but could not get the height up to clear mountains. Old school stuff like flight planing alt routes and weather reports. I am so glad I got this little aggravating bugger! :D Will post screens on next attempt. P.S. to the repainters out there, If you can or would how would a red white and blue flag draped Cub appeal to you?

The cub may not be able to get through the hills east of Phoenix. Might have to go by way of Tucson instead. Interesting flight. I might try it myself in the cub.

I just did a test flight and I thank if I go alone I might get it done. 8500 is what I just got to, took some time to get there but looking at the map following rivers and railways I thank it can be done. Need to plan stops and not take a full load of fuel. Lots of private stops on the way but have no way of knowing if they have fuel there or not In real life. I know the sim does as in you can just use the shift 4 or the other way to add fuel. I try to keep A2A as real as I can get. :D

Follow I-10, you're in a cub, and there is plenty along civilized routes lol, don't stop in Tonepah, unless you like your gauges to glow  and then when I-20 cuts off you can venture to greener more civilized areas. Sounds like a fun route, although lots of stick time.

4th attempt to day I don't thank I am going to make it. I know I can in the 100 aircraft but was looking forward to some stick time and the war birds are a little fast, and I am not that good in them. :D
I have not quit just yet.

Oh, I will get it done. :D Just not sure how long it will take. Once over the mountains it will be a cake walk.

Ok first leg. KSAN to KIPL 82NM 1:28 min. Weather was ok as I downed my last cup of coffee with my last pill of stupidity. I call this IVFR for idiot visual flight rules. Or in this case the lack of. I have a lot of pics but in the post that follow I will not post as many.

I had fun but that long with my hand on the stick hurts to much. One trip a day or two is all I'm going to do. :D
