The A2A Simulations Community

I have been simming with fs9\fsx for a number of years and always gone for the big airliners (PMDG\Concorde x\etc) and not really spent much time on the smaller aircraft since getting started all those years ago.

I recently wanted to find a decent GA plane to spend some time flying at a lower altitude and actually enjoying some of the payware scenery I bought recently and looking around I found the A2A site. Reading up on the various offerings and watching videos on you tube I decided that the Spitfire was going to be my next purchase.

I have ony had it for 2 hours but in that time I have not had so much fun flying around in FSX. I managed to take off\fly about and almost land (stopping on the runway obviously takes a bit of practice)

Thank you guys for an excellent simulation, accu-sim is a nice addition and works well and I will post a better review when I have spent some more time with this excellent add-on.

I have my eye on the B17 already but want to spend some time flying the spitfire a bit more first.

Managed to do a few circuits last night with a fairly good landing each time so I am getting there, compared to the amount of buttons that need pushing on the 737ngx or concorde x its a breath of fresh air to start\take off and land.

Just remember to keep and eye on the temperatures if you are staying low!

Get the RPM dialed back and keep the IAS above 180 MPH when you
are at low altitudes to keep the coolant and oil temps in line.

I like to see the needles of those two gauges pointing at one another.
One at 3 0'clock and the other at 9 o'clock

Thanks for the advice. I haven't ventured that far but will bear that in mind.

My mission tomorrow is to get ezdok working, have tried many times and given up both recently found a great set of videos that might help.

I love this plane and am finally getting to grips with the power\radiator\heat setup.

I was trying to fly at low altitude between airports and after reading another post on this forum I have learnt that I need to be at 15,000ft + to cool the engine.

Only slight thing I struggle with is dropping to a low altitude too quickly on approach but I am sure I will pick this up.

I am so tempted to get either the B17 or B377!

Chris, I have found the Spitfire flies wonderfully at low altitude- I just make sure that my boost is around 0 if I'm doing a low altitude flight. Sure you'll be under 200mph, but the engine should stay cool enough, and the radiator flaps should help if you need them.

Have you had a chance to fly with all three different props yet? Each one makes the Spitfire like a totally different plane.

You will LOVE the B-17, but don't overlook the P-40, it may just be the best one to date- more challenging than the Spitfire (to me), and flies totally different too.

And of course there's a brand new P-51 flying low straight towards us, hopefully to be released very soon. My expectation is that the P-51 will be the single most authentic warbird ever created for a flight simulator...

Quick question that hopefully someone can answer, I recently won one of these on ebay and don't have any pedals yet, is there any way to simulate the rudder on the yoke?

If you have a registered version of FSUIPC you can programme any switch or key to do the same action as any axis. I use this for actions such as air brakes.
I would asvise you to invest in some pedals when you can, they are expensive but worth every penny (or cent).
