December 2014 I bought Supermarine Spitfire MKI (wings of power II) (installed plane and bug fix), which works in all ways except one. I canNOT turn the plane on the ground , operating the rudder, by using my Logitech Attack 3 joystick. I CAN turn all my other FSX planes on the ground by using the rudder. Autorudder is checked in Realism Settings. I CAN turn the plane by using keyboard keys NUM 0 and NUM Enter but this is slow and awkward/inaccurate.
I seek advice to fix this steering i.e. is there a correction for this where I can steer the plane on the ground with joystick.
Please excuse that I am at a low technical level.

Ground steering problem: Wings of Power II Spitfire
Re: Ground steering problem: Wings of Power II Spitfire
Please use settings like in the manual. So autorudder off.
Spitfire has only castoring tailwheel and only one brake handle. To steer left on the ground, you need to push brakes and while giving left, the brake pressure in the right brake will relief, so you will turn.

Re: Ground steering problem: Wings of Power II Spitfire
Hi Gulredrel
many thanks for your speedy reply but I cannot make it work.
As you say I have firstly unchecked the autorudder.
Then roll the plane forward with joystick pulled and held to the left and squeeze brake trigger but no significant turn to the left. Same unsuccessful result for trying to turn the plane to the right. (Also, when viewed from behind, I don't see any deviation of the tail rudder, throughout this process)
Got any more advice?
I remain keen to accept help and give it a go. I'm not giving up yet (but feel close to that).
Best wishes, Rod
PS Have I bought the wrong version (WOP II) of this plane? Should I have bought WOP 3?

Re: Ground steering problem: Wings of Power II Spitfire
Okay, I was reffering to WOP 3 Spitfire with accu-sim.
But nevertheless, you should see rudder deflection from outside view in every plane.
Check axis assignment in FSX settings. Your rudder axis (twist on stick or rudder on pedals) should be assigned to rudder axis in game.

Re: Ground steering problem: Wings of Power II Spitfire
Hi Gulredrel
many thanks.
Well done. You've triggered that rare "ah-ha!" Eureka moment!!
My Logitech Attack 3 Joystick does not have the twist axis you have described.
In my case, "ignorance is bliss" does not apply. As I approach my 7th decade I just didn't know about a twist axis facility.
So I've ordered a 'Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick'. I guess this'll take a week or so.
(My missus wont allow me to put rudder pedals in our "office" room).
And that should solve my problems and really improve my experience of Flight Sim.
After installing the new joystick I will send a new message to confirm fix/success from this mission.
But I feel optimistic you've solved my problem.
Thank you for giving me your time!

No problem.
But maybe your missus appreciates the advantages of rudder pedals. You can also put the feet at rest there
Merry Christmas.

Hi Jens
problem solved! THANK YOU. Although I feel a bit of a clot for not being insightful.
Installed Logitech Extreme3DPro joystick WITH TWIST AXIS and now Spitfire rudder works perfectly. Great looking and really responsive plane!!
Bye now; keep up the good work,
und ein traumhaftes neues Jahr.
