Interesting problem here. After I install the Accusim 1.1 pack, the Spitfire will work until I reboot. Doesn't matter how many times I start FSX.
After reboot, it crashes display the "Send Report to Microsoft Window" when I select the spitfire. This happens whether I let it load the A2A dll or not.
It seems to work fine after the install. I've flown all around full weather no problems.

- Since a reboot killed it, I made sure all services were running - that didn't help.
- I tried loading it without any other product dlls, didn't help.

System specs:

FSX SP2
4 GB ram
Saitek yoke, x52, peddals.
Nvidia 580 GTX 266.58 ( I don't like to upgrade drivers unless there's a compelling reason because of the tweaking required)
ASUS P5Q-E Q9650

Thank you in advance.

Ok, that sounds to me as if it could be a problem of "order" of loading something. I have problems with the Simulator if I, for instance, load TiR before the lights program....if lights are started first, no problem.

I would try uninstalling the Spitfire and Accusim (Accusim first) from the "add remove programmes" item in control Panel, THEN go to the C:/Documents folder, find A2A/Spitfire and delete the spitfire directory (which contains the dat and log files).

Next reinstall the Spitfire "run as administrator" and then the Accusim pack likewise then the core update. Start FSX and see how you go, shut down windows and then go in again and see if the problem persists. Not deleting the dat and log files manually will more than likely preserve a "corrupt" file and no amount of reinstalls (without that step) will fix things (ask me how I know!!!  )

See how you go and let us know the result...if all else fails, another core update is in the works and the problem may vanish with that.

regards

Darryl

Sorry, you have me stumped but I will raise it in beta..as I said the next core update is being worked on at the moment (obviously I have NO idea of a release date! )

Can you tell me if you are running any other software for FSX, gauges, lights, weather programs (like ASE)etc?

And, are you getting a "yellow" simconnect error warning at aby stage?

Hopefully one of the "technically" minded guys can help.

Darryl

I would ask, what is the fault module? When you get the "Send error report" pop-up, is there a
click-spot in the lower left corner saying "More information? or some such?

If so, click on that before dismissing the window and see what can be gleened from that display.

I also run a nVidea GTX260 with older drivers as I am of the mindset, if it's not broken, don't fixit!

I do note differences between my Xp Pro install and my Win7 x64 install (dual-boot) with regards
to texture loading times and accusim aircraft reloads. The Xp side bogs down on the high-res textures
and I used to get FSX lockups on the Cub and Spit until I reduced a couple of the textures. No problem
with Win7.

Also, with Xp, I can reload a accusim aircraft or restart a fllight exactly twice, then I get the 'Simconnect'
error message and have to close down FSX and restart. With Win7 I can reload, restart flight 6 or 8 times before that
occurs. Same hardware, just different operating systems.

I've not experienced the problem you are having and really can't formulate a definate approach here.

Do you have other A2A accusim aircraft? Is it only the Spitfire that has issues? Is it all models of the Spit?
Win Xp ot Win7? x32 or x64?

The more info we have the better in trying to assess this problem.

Ok, I really just wanted to ask if this was a known problem with a known solution.
Since I don't have alot of sim time I certainly don't want to spend it bug hunting - please take no offense.
I'll wait for the next patch and see how it goes.

I did try to revert to the accusim previous to the core upgrade with no luck. I did a search and removed every folder related to the spitfire.
Still, installing base + accusim (no core upgrade) didn't work. Same problem as always.

I'll stay tuned, thanks!

Just an update. I bought the P40 and with it came Update 1.2
After installing the P40 and 1.2 the spitfire worked again. I had this strange feeling it would.
That is, I could select it from as an aircraft and it would appear in my preview window.
After reboot when I select it I get an FSX crash.

The 377,P47,P40 are working fine. Just this weird problem with the spit. This problem only started after I installed the Core update 1.1.

Next time I get a crash I'll record the .dll etc that's failing.

I figured it out a workaround.

I tried using the medium textures which while that worked I got very unstable FPS. Contrast with the High textures (when they worked) I got 30 FPS solid.

Anyway.... I made a batch file which copied the Simobjects/Wop3_Spitfire to a temp directory. If I run this after boot everything works fine.
I think somewhere a slight delay of fetching a texture hurts something. And this is with an SSD! I'm guessing by doing a copy or install the texture file data is cached.

I'm going to give the P40 a rest and do some spitting.

Further testing now shows that I have to copy Simobjects/Airplanes/Wop_Spitfire/ texture_b and panel.
I'm going to try and narrow it down further, but testing all the file combinations is going to take time.
