Spitfire starts in a cloud of smoke

Post by Peter32427 »

Hi Guys,
My Spitfire starts in a cloud of blue smoke and I can't clear it.
I'm running P3DV4.3.29.25520. The Spitfire was installed on 28th July 2018 Ver 18.4.30.0.
I've attached my P3D realism screen, which has all the ticks in the correct place.
With the engine cold, with just a couple of primer slides, it starts and within seconds, there is blue smoke spewing from the engine - see screenshots.
I've tried to burn it off by advancing the mixture control lever (forward to lean) and increasing the throtle, but to no effect.
Inside the cockpit I get about frame rate of about 50, but when I look from an outside view it drops to about 5!
If I stop the engine, or reload the flight and go into the maintenance hanger, it tells me that the engine is in perfect condition!
Any ideas?
Many thanks
Peter

Hello Peter and welcome to the forums. :)

Thanks for the detailed description of your issue. Please can you check if the 'I' key is somehow being triggered during your startup process? By default this is assigned to the P3D function "smoke system (on/off)" and will turn on all the smoke effects at once.

Cheers,
Nick

Hi Nick,
That fixed it - many thanks!
I had 'I' set as a Chase Plane short cut to zoom into the instrument panel!
Regards,
Peter
