Group Flight Sunday 25Nov18 - Hawaiian Warbird Adventure

Post by Paughco »

Guys: What we've got here is a slightly modified version of the 5th flight in DC-3 Airway's 2018 World Rally. Here's the route from SkyVector:

Image

Note the flight plan block in the upper left.

Total distance: 314nm
Meeting Time: 1900 GMT
Meet on The Skypark hub on JoinFS.
Comms through the A2A community on Discord.
Assemble at Mountain View Airstrip, HI23, at 1900 Zulu. Takeoff at 1930Z.
Set: Local time Zulu -4. That's 1500 assembly 1530 takeoff; weather: Real or Fair.
Aircraft: any A2A warbird. We'll need to cruise at 250 mph (218 knots) in order to complete the flight in 75 minutes.

Notes: I got out of HI23 OK in my C-47, but keep in mind that the field is only 1,800 feet long. I plan to practice a few partial flap takeoffs there in my P-40 before next Sunday. We should pay our respects at Wheeler with a touch and go.

The flight will take about 75 minutes at warbirds speeds. Cruising at 150 in a C-47 will take approximately 125 minutes. Might be a tad slow.

Considering duration of flight I'm going to mount my P51 for this.

I'm gonna run my P-40. I'll have to use pretty high power settings, so I plan to run full wing and aux tanks, plus 30 gal in the fuse tank. Try that Mustang on the 1,800 ft strip at HI23 next time you get a chance.

Oh, good. At least I'll be able to keep up with someone if I fly my girlie Spit.

I would like to take a stab at this one if that's alright with everyone. I have never flown with any of you so if someone could send me a link to stuff I would need to join I would be very grateful. If it's a closed group then I understand.

We use join fs on the skypark hub http://pmem.uk/joinfs/install.html
If you get confused with setting it up i'm sure everyone would be happy to wait and help before we set off
