Took some shots and it got me to wondering...

Post by ImpendingJoker »

I was playing around with Formation Toys a tool that lets you use any fixed wing plane(with mixed results) as AI traffic. I was flying an "escort" mission over KBVS(Orbx of course!) and was really tucked in to my ward when I suddenly realized something...no wake turbulence. That got me to thinking can this be done through Accusim?

It's actually been done with several addon weather programs (ActiveSky being the first to really try) but it's a very tricky thing and doesn't always work right. I'm not sure if wake turbulence is something that can be reliably done within Accusim without some pretty extensive coding as ActiveSky simply triggers the FSX inbuilt Turbulence simulation when the conditions are right.

WT is done with Active Sky, even the old version.

It is on one side very good as you even could get into your own WT if you fly a circle.
But the effect itself is not very good as the plane just steers into one direction ... it is not th shaking or rattling that is awaited.

Thanks for the info on that. I fly with REX Essentials and can't really justify two programs that do almost the same thing to get just ONE effect. What do you think of the screenies?

Active sky next has great wake turbulence effects if you are still looking for a program.
