Considering getting Accu-Feel what are people's thoughts ?

Post by Styggron »

Hello everyone,
I've watched videos, read reviews etc regarding how Accu-Feel enhances the default FSX planes. I would just like to hear people's thoughts and experiences.

Surprised there are no posts in the review and customer videos re Accu-Feel on here.

- Do people like it ?
- Did people think it is worth it ?
- What people like
- What people don't like etc

Thank you all in advance. I know this is all going to depend on many factors and of course very subjective, this is why I'd like to hear people's thoughts on the points above.

I only have a C172 from A2A waiting for a Jet or something like a Baron Twin Prop before I get another was considering getting Accu-Feel to enhance my FSX default planes.

To be brutally honest I, and I suspect most people on this forum, only, or at least mostly, fly A2A aircraft so Accu-Feel doesn't play much of a part in my simming anyway.
Others will possible differ.

EDIT: Reading through your post again. You would definitely qualify as a prime Accu-Feel candidate. Livens up sleepy ol' Carenados beautifully.

Considering how it improves non A2A Accu-Sim aircraft it is a bargain $$. Snatch it up you won't be sorry.

Well, good price compared to the aircraft with accufeel but it's still $30 for me.

Hello Ron,
Absolutely understandable. If people have A2A aircraft then yes they would fly that. I don't think I have touched the C172 default in FSX because I have the A2A one. I just need a little more variety on the type though. A2A has no twins bar the big ones like the B377 and B17 nor jets which I would really like so really waiting for those to come but I fear with only 1 more aircraft to be released this year if the schedule is like from the past, we may not get a GA twin or a jet so it will just be more of the same. Don't get me wrong though, their modelling is amazing, it's just I would like something completely different.

With the default FSX's Accu Feel might be the best I can until A2A give us a twin or jet, that is if they plan to....

I'm one of those A2A only guys (so far) only because I have limited time and I'm actually trying to learn. I will get into to some other planes eventually.

That said, I have a love and a dream for the Grumman Goose and bought Accu-Feel specifically for it. The water dynamics and the in air feel definitely stood out as a noticeable improvement. All of which you can adjust as you probably know. However, you're still working with the same model. So, my comment is; it's definitely worth it, just don't expect it to magically transform the model interaction with regard to base fsx planes. It will definitely enhance your experience.

To answer your questions

- Do people like it ? YES.

- Did people think it is worth it ? YES. It might be $30 to you, but it does improve all of your "other/fsx" planes. Haven't tried it with Helis tho.

- What people like IMPROVED FLIGHT AND WATER FEEL. DOES WHAT IT SUPPOSED TO.

- What people don't like etc SO FAR, NOTHING BECAUSE YOU CAN TURN IT OFF.

I hope that helps.

Thanks for that. Yes I do understand it improves all the default planes. Just trying to see if it is worth the $30. I tend to compare the prices to how much FSX itself cost. Most A2A craft with accusim cost more than what FSX cost which is odd as it is an addon. Like if you buy a car, 4 tyres can't cost more than the entire car (normal family passenger car not sports car!) Sure it is because A2A is a smaller company, yes they do amazing jobs, yes they have costs etc I understand all that. But this is why I only currently have the C172 as it was $70 for me, again more than what FSX Acceleration cost. Exchange rates are not A2A's fault but they do impact on value for money vs cost for people. I would imagine sales would be less if it was $70US for the C172 with accu-sim. It is all relative.

$30 was the only thing putting me off instantly buying Accu feel for now hence I wanted to see what people thought and why I wanted to know if things like RAIN sound effects are enhanced but it looks like Accu-feel does not do any rain enhancements from what people say here.

Windows 10 is currently Free, how much is the software and keyboard you are using to type the message on the forums?

The logic of fsx cost this so all add-ons should be sub that price doesn't make sense, and certainly doesnt apply to a software platform, otherwise why purchase the 172 at all from us as default fsx has one right?

thanks,

Hello Lewis

Err no you're not comparing apples with apples. Windows 10 will not stay free for much longer. The free status is not the *norm*. Also I think you may have argued against yourself because the computer running windows generally costs more than windows itself which is my point. :) However of course, there is specialised software and licenses which is far more expensive than the hardware running it but we're talking home no professional users here :) I see ad ons as "sort of" *DLC* which of course should not be more than the base. A2A is far more than DLC and this is not a good example.

1. FSX has a C172 built in yes.
2. The A2A is *far* superior
3. At a guess, creating the entire FSX from scratch should be more than a single add on. Of course, there are economies of scale here. MS is very large and A2A is small and specialised. Less units sold so cost per unit is more and of course it needs to retain viability. None of that is in question.

This is my logic. Same with the car and the tyres. Buying 4 tyres should not exceed the cost of the car *generally* speaking.

:)

It's like when postage costs more than the item. In that case I just don't buy the item so I always and will always carefully consider any add on and how much it is proportionally to the cost of the original. Sure it is inconvenient I know and yes it's *not that simple* but it is a start.

I saw A2A had a sale last year in Dec, if there is another I will keep my eye out and make a call from that point. With Accu-feel, I was just trying to gauge if I will get $30 out of the experience. I know my C172 is just amazing, sure it was $70 which was more than FSX but I have gotten alot out of it AND have enjoyed my time here with this amazing community. (I have learned SO much from very kind, patient and knowledgeable members here).

I'll tell you what though, if A2A make an Avro Lancaster, I will buy it *instantly* :) (That will be my *one off*)

Hi again Lewis,

After I wrote all the above and pondered about it a little although I still believe that add ons should not cost more than the base product (I know you and others may not agree but that is not here or there), there is another VERY important consideration which comes into play.

1. How much entertainment have I got out of it vs the cost

Before A2A, I was only flying a little here and there but after seeing A2A on Doofer911's youtube channel and his amazing tutorials I thought I would give the A2A C172 a go. I saw the wonderful community, I saw A2A's fantastic support how you jump in to help people etc. It was all a positive experience.

I do not exaggerate at all when I say the A2A C172 & those tutorials on you tube *SAVED* me in a way because now I fly a LOT before it was maybe a few times 4-8 months if that. Now I look forward to jumping INTO the A2A C172 2-3 times a WEEK getting better and better at flying. This is the point of A2A's goal. :)

So if we calculate entertainment value in hours vs cost of product, well A2A *saved* the day :) and the more I fly the "cheaper" it becomes with entertainment per hour value :)
