Accufeel

Post by krats »

I have installed Accufeel in my basic FSX program Folder and it runs as it should.
Today I installed it in my FSX Steam program folder using the path that Scott recommended, and the installer
said that it was installed properly.
I can see it in my Steam Fsx common folder but when I run the game ,it doesn't show up as an addon at the top of the page
and I can notice no Accufeel action in the simulators performance.
Does anyone have any help for this ???

Hey Krats, have you also updated with the update?

Best to get the update running before troubleshooting. One thing to note is thst having two FSX instances installed on one machine will change the directories on the FSX Steam edition. It does this to try to prevent conflicts with the disc installation but of course can then cause some issues as the directory is different.

Hi Lewis:
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I did have the update installed before trying to check the program.
Here's the situation. I switched my OS to Windows-10 and had to reinstall all my programs. FSX Acceleration would not install
properly so I ran my FSX program only with the SP-1,and SP-2 updates. It worked fine ,and Accufeel as well as all my Accusim
programs were okay. Next I added Steam-FSX using my original Boxed FSX-GOLD program as the base authentication. It worked well
and brought with it the Acceleration Features. But when I tried to add Accufeel to the Steam FSX program the Wise-Installer says it was installed
properly, but it doesn't show up when you fly.
If the problem is my having two FSX programs on the computer, I would be happy to delete the OE. box FSX program and only use the Steam Version.
However, my concern is that uninstalling the Box FSX program will prevent my Steam FSX from running.
What do you think about this situation Lewis ???

Hello Krats,

the two installations are entirely separate they are different programs. To correct the directory issue though you would have to uninstall both, restart the PC, delete all left over folders from the installation and the app folders and then also maybe run a reg cleaner to remove any left over reg entries fro fsx box edition. Then restart the PC again and then use steam to re-download FSX steam edition to your steam library.

We could try to get it working in your current installs though.

thanks,

Hi Lewis:
My Steam Library will not allow me to install FSX/Steam without a copy of Boxed FSX already on the computer. How can I get it working in my current installs as you suggested ??

Hello Krats,

that's not correct, the box version is entirely separate to fsx steam edition. The two programs are independent. Steam has no knowledge as it where of games outside of the steam eco system unless you add them in to try to take advantage of the steam library system or the steam overlay etc.

Hello Lewis:

Thanks for your reply. Yesterday I had to uninstall and then re-install my FSX/Steam Flight-Sim Program.
Before the reinstall would start, a message said that Basic FSX had to be on my computer in order for the Steam program
to run properly. I still had my "boxed FSX" installed, so I had no problems. The Steam / FSX ran well. However, when I installed
Accusim V.2 , even though I got a successful install message from the installer, the program will not show up when I run the game.
I checked and there are no items in the Boxed FSX install that reference anything connected with A2A. The FSX/Steam install does appear to
have the items referenced to Accufeel, but it will not run!

What can I do now ????

There is no way the steam program would mention anything about boxed edition. What was the exact message you received and how are you launching? Are you opening up steam or just a shortcut to a steam enabled game?

Hi Lewis:
After uninstalling FSX/Steam, I went to my basic Steam Program Account and downloaded/installed the FSX/Steam Program that was in my Steam-Library
account. That was when I got the message about the basic FSX program having to be on my computer in order for the Steam/FSX program to run properly.

When I run the game, I start it with the short-cut that the install program put on my desk-top. The Steam/FSX program runs well and even the A2A add-on aircraft I installed
perform well. The only thing that doesn't work is my Accufeel add-on.

What do you think ???

Hi Lewis:
I only have the Steam Edition Of FSX.
My basic FSX is from the box-edition Of FSX Gold.

I also have another question for you. The Steam Dovetail Valve home page says they have
their own version of Accufeel for Steam-FSX which they sell for $19.95. They assure me it will work
in my Steam edition of FSX without any problems. How is their version of Accufeel able to work , and the
one I bought directly from A2A doesn't ???

Hello,

i'm confused. You say you only have steam edition but then say "My basic FSX is from the box-edition Of FSX Gold" ??

So you have both versions of the software installed?

Ok, I would suggest only having one installed. Until I know the steam message you are receiving its hard to help. There is NO way the steam version requires the disc edition to be installed though.
