A feature of FS2000 that for some reason was never used after that version was when you had ATIS dialed in and on the fringe of the signal you had all this static and as you got closer it became clear and the static slowly went away. If any developer has a copy of FS2000 just load it up and dial in atis and fly away from the airport and you will see what I mean. Very close to what you guys do with the radio stations in the B17 but even better modeled (I know blasphemy right) But it really was that good.
Would be great to have that return to both the ATIS and morse code for Nav and ADF signals. TO give an example, I am currently doing a B17 flight in South America and using VOR to VOR but instead of using any DME, almost every waypoint I am using is a field that also has a NDB there as well so I am using the ADF2 radio which show the signal strength instead of DME. So the radio compass points to the VOR and when I get closer The ADF comes alive and the signal strength gives me an idea of how close I am.
Needless to say I use the audio panel to confirm the signal and it alerts me of when the signal is alive. Would be very cool if while at the fringe of getting that signal there too was static and it got clearer as you got closer. So one could have both an audio and gauge indicator of how close you are to a NDB or VOR or airport (based on ATIS) without ever looking at a GPS or map.
