Hello people,

Allow me to introduce myself for a moment before I bombard you with a lot of questions.

I have read the forum for years now, but at last I've signed up to be able to post something now and then.
I've been a huge fan of the A2A products from when they started to release products for FSX with the WoPII WW2 fighters.
And I simply have no words to describe the way I feel about Accusim, it’s so amazing and brilliant.

Like a lot of you I’ve waited for the P-51 to come out and it’s instantly my favourite aircraft.
Last weekend I’ve started on my first repaint ever and hope some of you can help me out with a few things I struggle with?

There are so many layers, which is a great thing, but I’m a bit lost in the woods. I’m not sure what layers the model at least needs.
My filesize is about 65MB so far, while the (more beautiful) aircraft from the skinpack are about 16MB.
Does anyone have tips on how to reduce the filesize? I’ve used Imagetool to create the .dds but will try the Photoshop plugin later on.

I seem to be stuck with some small horizontal antenna’s at the tail. Does anyone happen to know of you can remove them? Or make them invisible.
Another step is to make the plane a bit more 'alive'.

Well this topic is nowhere without a few picture so here are some screenshots of my project in progress:
I hope you like it.

Here are the downloadlinks to the latest version:

Damn Yankee which is one of my favourite Mustangs.

Thank you very much! :D

I have completely repainted the nose and just uploaded the repaint to AVSIM, I've added it to the "Finished Paints" topic.

My first repaint is finished and available for download at:
AVSIM
http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=169274

And SOH:

It is the "Damn Yankee"
"Damn Yankee" represents a fictional aircraft of the 8th Air Force, 67th Fighter Wing, 356th Fighter Group, 359th Fighter Squadron.
She was painted in U.S.A.A.F. colours wearing the nickname “Damn Yankee” in the USA.
The "Damn Yankee" entered the Dutch register as PH-PSI in April 2006. Based at Lelystad (EHLE) she was the first airworthy Mustang in the Netherlands. P-51D, Serial 44-74425. Or so I´m told.
More info on "Damn Yankee" at: http://www.crazyhorseap.be/Mustangs/Mus ... PH-PSI.htm with interesting info on the squadron and how they came to this bright colourscheme.

Here are a few new screencaptures to wet your appetite.

Indeed RvdPol made an awesome paintjob here, but I have an issue with this particular paint, as stated here: viewtopic.php?f=94&t=30431#p230925.

I'm really sorry to hear you have trouble using my skin.

I've worked all day and have updated all files. I even made it more realistic and beautiful, so I hope you will give it another try ;)
I really hope the problems are solved now.

I've re-uploaded the files on SOH and AVsim, SOH already seems to have them available at:
http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=3&id=12793

At AVSIM:
http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=169405

In the readme there should be mentioned that it is my second version of the paint and there should now be a new file called "p51_ww.dds" included in the .zip

a few pictures.
(note the white wheel wells now ;) )
