I am in the process of painting another aircraft. This time it is a modern Mustang, namely Doctor Kendall Wagners. "Lady Alice". It's going guite well, and progress is good!

Here are the quiestions: Do any of you know if it's possible to change the pattern in the tyre. Lady Alice's has longtitudinal ribs, so I want to get rid of the checkers. I removed them from both the diffuse and the specular texture, both in RGB and in the Alpha channels, but the damn pattern still shows up. Is it hidden in yet another texture, which I haven't found yet, in the "Texture" folder or is the pattern (as I'm beginning to fear) moddeled in the 3D model of the tyre?

Also, what is the best way to make a chrome effect? I made the alpha-channel in the diffuse texture completely black, and maed the specular white and removed a lot of alpha channel there - it's shiny alright, but I''d like a bit more of the enviroment reflection. My chrome on the propeller i nowhere near as blank as it is on the spinner of the default Beech Baron for instance.

Cheers!

Lasse

For the tire deal. You need to take it out of the bump map. You can paint that out of the blue channel. That is the one that has the depth information on there. With that said. You can also make your tire pattern in there with the nvidia normals program. What a bump map does is fake the lighting so it appears to have that pattern there.

the chrome I am still trying to figure that one out. To new to skinning.
