This is an uncompressed 32bit 4k texture set for best image quality so bring the computing power or feel free to compress them yourself.

I might come back to this a later time to check up on the blue of the nose, some reflection tweaking and maybe a historical version (weathering and some changes in the pilot name).

However for the time being download here: http://www.filefactory.com/file/5q9yxtr ... ghty3rd.7z

Credits:
-The base of the Bump-map was done by seediffy (cdfi here at A2A). I only made some adjustments
-The environmental map for the reflections was done by Bob "BananaBob" Rivera.

Edit: Updated Download (fixed readme)

Would it help to add the Tank/Bomb Pylons on in the sim, to see the spacing? Only because your second pic there has the tank attached.

WIP.

Currently struggling with the d-day stripes on the bottom wings.
Their width makes little sense somehow. Photos show that the inb. black stripe has to start somewhere around the outb. landing gear door hinge. If the gear is extended the white part is hidden by the wing structure leaving the impression the door starts black. However combined with the position of one stripe starting between the outb. and ctr. machine gun that leads to a width of around 170 pixels per stripe leaving too little unpainted flap on the outb. end. yet still not reaching the landing gear light on the inb. Side...

Compared to:

???

Other than that I'm rather happy how my Cripes A'Mighty 3rd turned out.

Image

Hhmm leaves the impression that all stripes have a different width?

Indeed, seems the outbrd Black and White stripes need to be a tad skinnier. :?

Asymetric test:

I added 6 pixel each strip going inb. and distracted 6 pixel each strap going outb.

Image

Yea thats more like it... needs some fine tuning but looks really like each strip has a slightly different width...

I think you've got it there, I think the inboard white is now perfect too, that was a bit too much outboard previously.
FS painter. You'll find most of my FS9/FSX/P3D paints here.

He got some kills:

D-day stripes should fit pretty good now:

Now I "just" need to add Major Preddy's name, play a little with the alpha channels and colours, add some minor details (e.g. SN) and recheck everything.

Looking really good. I am happy to see this Cripes a' Mighty is being modeled so accurately. I have studied the 352nd color schemes and have numerous photos of Preddy's planes, from the original
"B" model to the last "D" model he was killed in. Any questions, i would happy to help.

Too bad A2A can't add the version of the "D" without the tail fillet.

If you want to see a beautifully done piece of art work of Cripes 3rd, check out Mark Waki's print..its still for sale at a steal for $25.

Can't wait for you to release it so I can add it to my stable of Stangs.

Thanks.
I haven't really had much time to work on this lately. At least I managed to extend the d-day stripes over the oil and coolant cooler flaps:

Image

I'm experimenting with the spec map and the alpha channels thus far I'm rather unhappy with my results :|

Hello,
Thank you Mr Ishigami for this beautifull repaint.
But, if i can, (the spec map ?) is this the photo on the fuse ?
Do not make it in "hd" because, it is not réal...
I explain :
I've few repaints in extra shyne for this P-51, they are wonderfull sure but, after few day to have it :
I can see when you are near a forest, forest on left, forest on right, ready to flght, AND, when you see "the desert of Nevada" on the fuse  , it's not réal, not very good i believe
It's only my opinion, sorry...
Good flight and blue sky, serge.
Sorry for my english please...

Please, please, please keep us apprised of your progress! I watch this bird fly a lot here in Central Florida, and can't wait to put this paint on my P-51. There in nothing out there right now that comes close to your beautiful paint job! I'll be up here all the time until you finish this! Great work!

I can see you're putting a lot of effort in this bird. Don't be afraid to examine other painters work on the spec's and alpha and stuff to get the result you're looking for.
